Its more like this,
1)Teenagers who listen to more music are more likely to be depressed. It's not the music's fault but rather is a trait shared among many teens who suffer from depression.
2)Music itself can help you relive anxiety.

Just because people who listen to music are depressed, that does not mean that music causes depression. This is like saying most shark attacks occur in the deep-end of the beach. Well, duh! That's where all the sharks are!

Maybe he didn't phrase it correctly. The reason teenagers wo are depressed would listen to more musica would be to cope with the depression.

too much of anything is a bad thing, music can help sooth, but too much music, you spend you time shut off from the world drowning everything out in your music, you will begin to distance yourself from reality and start feeling depressed

They listen to all that music to try to deal with their depression. They are the first uberfact because of the second one.

Taking Ibuprofen helps reduce headaches.

This is probably a good example of everything in moderation.

the point of course being that depressed, anxious people are trying to self-medicate with music, not that you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
