It would be a win for the suicidal person.
-They would die anyways, sure it wouldn't be by their own hand, but still they would be dead.
-If they were religious and hoped god would forgive them, they didn't kill themselves so it's good for them.

basically it was to ensure that if you attempted it, and someone found out, you are committed to it.

Honestly this makes a good deal of sense, does anyone out there know the type of person I'm reffering to with this? the people I know who have attempted suicide are typically quite worthless, 9/10 times they've admitted it was an attention ploy. I just find this to be the UK's way of cutting the crap with people who can't remove their head from their asses. just food for thought.

Suicide attempts, drug use, all those things shouldn't be punishable even by going to prison. Prison won't stop them from doing that **** or it will rarely make one stop doing it. They will probably go even deeper into that **** if they go to prison. It would be a lot more logical to rather put them into mental hospital for them to get a proper psychological treatment.

This kind of a law likely left in its wake, many, many regrets and an ocean of tears.

What is the only crime that is punishable if you do not commit it... but if you do commit it... nothing happens to you?

Isn't it illegal to jump off buildings in New York, punishable by death?

Well British are known for being well mannered and helpful.
But also as a fierce ass empire with fantastic police (HA! ahh back in the day, eh?) and a no **** no nonsence attitude.
Kinda...combine the two.
