I do envy people who got to see older bands in their prime. Anymore, bands like Rolling Stones, Metallica, or Aerosmith have such big shows that it kinda defeats the purpose of seeing them live. I don't want to drop $400 to be close. I might as well just watch a live DVD.

I like concerts, not events.

Hey I know music evolves and **** but damn son this post has a point.

None of the bands that have started in the last 10 years have achieved legendary status yet, they'll need another 20 or 30 years for that.

So yes, all the cool bands are from the past.

Now the old bands can sell $200 a ticket for their concerts.

Sorry I've bought the tickets ffor Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath in my country at $480 (maiden) and $360(sabbath) that's in Argentinian pesos which translates to 1/6 in u$d.
That's not really that expensive (it is a lot of money tho).

There is more good music being produced today than there ever was. This is simply because there is more music being produced today, period. Music recording went from cutting directly onto the master vinyl, to being able to manually edit and mix and splice before you pressed the master vinyl, to more complex editing, to now, computerized editing programs and hardware that make it possible for anyone in the world to set up a semi-pro recording studio for a couple thousand bucks. It is now easier than ever to get music out there to be heard. Sure, there's going to be a lot of crap, but once you shake off the layers of ****, you can find some honest-to-god virtuosos that nobody would have even known the existence of a few years ago.

I saw Dick Dale play last July, he sounded amazing but ran out of steam at the end when he played misirlou. It just left me pretty sad thinking of what he was able to do years ago. Gotta give him credit though, he's been going since '54, and he still sounded awesome. Proportionately one of the loudest musicians I've seen (pretty small venue).

I've seen a lot of more recent bands though, wish I could experience the best of both worlds I guess, like seeing these guys in their prime.

I bought my dad this shirt, it's so awesome because everyone who sees it tells us their badass college days concert stories.
