I do envy people who got to see older bands in their prime. Anymore, bands like Rolling Stones, Metallica, or Aerosmith have such big shows that it kinda defeats the purpose of seeing them live. I don't want to drop $400 to be close. I might as well just watch a live DVD.

I like concerts, not events.

It's not about bands for me, wish I could go back in time to see Sinatra and Dean Martin live, damn

Though they may not be in their prime, you can still see some pretty cool bands. I saw Tesla last year. They were damned good.

the Stones were playing ten minutes from my house, i would have seen them too if the cheapest tickets weren't 500 bucks a pop

Hey I know music evolves and **** but damn son this post has a point.

None of the bands that have started in the last 10 years have achieved legendary status yet, they'll need another 20 or 30 years for that.

So yes, all the cool bands are from the past.

Now the old bands can sell $200 a ticket for their concerts.

I think the oldest bands I have seen have been Journey, Foreigner and The Charlie Daniels band. You guys have no idea how much fun the Devil Went down to Georgia is live.

This album is pretty cool, released in 1997 (I'm pretty sure) www.youtube.com/watch?v=sT0qBdHLspQ

MGMT - Congratulations was released in 2010 and it's pretty ******* amazing www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLh-Z7pyTuY

James Blake - S/t was released in 2011, it's amazing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iyb9LNLIJd0

Andrew Jackson Jihad - People Who Can Eat People Are The Luckiest People In The World released in either 2005 or 2006, it's amazing as well. www.youtube.com/watch?v=94_uZi_QhsU

Crystal Castles - S/t was released in 2008. And it's great. www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2FOnrFlEJY

Amazing music is still being made, it may be different. But most of it is just as good if not better.

I saw Dick Dale play last July, he sounded amazing but ran out of steam at the end when he played misirlou. It just left me pretty sad thinking of what he was able to do years ago. Gotta give him credit though, he's been going since '54, and he still sounded awesome. Proportionately one of the loudest musicians I've seen (pretty small venue).

I've seen a lot of more recent bands though, wish I could experience the best of both worlds I guess, like seeing these guys in their prime.

There's some good new ones but I do generally tend to prefer old music when it comes to rock, except for The Protomen. I ******* love The Protomen.

You can still see Queen. They still perform, just without Freddie Mercury.

I bought my dad this shirt, it's so awesome because everyone who sees it tells us their badass college days concert stories.
