If you don't support the outliers, than you don't support the whole. Stop trying to make yourself feel like you're a kind, accepting person when in reality it's the opposite.

I'm gay and I HATE those people. There's no reason to be like that - straight or gay. They are just trying to get attention I swear.
#253 to #203 - theinvisibletheift (08/23/2013) [-]
Why do people dislike when a straight couple makes out in public? We get arrested for **** the gay community is allowed to do openly. The only difference is that the gays have a feeling buffer that protects them from punishment. Their feelings get hurt, the hurter turns to a hater in everyone's eyes. He's saying that he has no problems with someone being gay, but being unsightly and acting like that gives you special privileges is something he dislikes.

I totally agree with you, i'm gay myself and I hate it when someone uses the 'Hate crime' card whenever they get in trouble/in a fight as you've stated

I just can't quite understand the mentality that equality means tipping the scale in the other direction...
User avatar #327 to #325 - kurokoda (08/23/2013) [-]
I agree with you some of us want equality but think that they deserve more respect and what not cause' their gay

Everyone deserves compassion, respect, love, and support no matter who they are and no matter where they come from. But being adamant about being treated like a child is no way to act like an adult. In my eyes, tolerance is condescending. Arguing and giving each other hell until we finally find common ground builds a mutual respect for everyone. People find each other more real and tangible when they get to know each other. What better way to know someone than to figure out what is in their heads and hearts? Looking past an action and excusing it by way of saying that it's fine because you aren't involved is just a way to treat a person like a child just like throwing a tantrum to get your way is a good way to act like one. Let me put it this way: I'll come right out and argue with you endlessly about why you're wrong in your way of thinking, but I'd be the first to stand and get your back to protect your right to think that way. And that's how I think that people should be treated.

That's actually a really good point you made there

Thank you. I don't like subscribing to what people tell me. thinking is my rebellion, really. XD

What I think our government and a lot of the american people call progress is really just a hobble that keeps us in this idea that everyone hates. That people need to take sides and that coexistence is only possible when every single last person has exactly the same ideals. The differences in peoples' minds and lives is exactly what drives progress. This world will never be a perfect place, but it doesn't need to be painted as a bleak and terrible one either. Humanity is amazing in its disparity of thought. That is a very good thing. We need to get back to believing that.

The last part there was actually kind of poetic

I dabble. Comes out unintentionally. Kinda inherited the skill from my grandma. My teachers back in high school always said things like that.

so I don't support you then am I not supporting the human race as a whole?
#48 - anonexplains (08/23/2013) [-]
Just because gay people don't conform to your standards of how "normal" people should act, doesn't mean they are any less deserving of respect. Saying you "don't hate gay people, you hate fags" is not progressive, its not open minded, its ******* ignorant. People shouldn't be hated, regardless of the way the dress/choose to express themselves. Stop trying to kid yourselves into thinking you are tolerant when really you are just a bunch of assholes
User avatar #80 to #48 - fizzor (08/23/2013) [-]
Stop being such a ******* moron. This isn't about sexual orientation, it's about having some goddamn decency in the public. You don't go around looking and acting like a hardcore BDSM fanatic, gay or straight, that kind of **** belongs to the bedroom.
