I'm not really pro-gun or anti-gun, I just think it should be harder to get one. But, you have to realize that guns are made for one purpose and one purpose only - to hurt/kill someone/something. There is no other use for them. I mean at least knives can carve wood and stuff.
User avatar #253 to #196 - esmebuffay (08/23/2013) [-]
You can carve wood with a gun, it's just really inefficient.

guns themselves are not lethal. it is the intention that makes them lethal. because without an intention, they are just a bit of metal and plastic.

To be honest Europe has implemented these laws and have had a significant decrease with no draw backs. Yes, Criminals can always get guns, but the harder it is, the more expensive, the more expensive, the less likely the majority of people responsible for gun violence (excluding the US military) are to go and get one.....Then again I have a fully modded AR-15 with Auto receiver, one SIG P226, a Benelli Supernova, Two Taurus 24/7 pro's, .300 Winchester Magnum, and Two S&W 500's. The Shotgun and pistols for if they come in my house, the rifles for if they try to run. I live in Texas (Hurr Durr Murican Redneck, guns n mcdonalds.) I believe strongly in gun regulation, but the right to bear arms, TO ME, isn't mostly for small time crooks, it's for whatever else may come and knock on my front door, and when it does. Imma blow the **** out of it,

The per capita rates of violent crime in general are higher in countries with strict gun control. In the US some thing like 400 people per 100,000 are affected by violent crime of any kind. In the UK its like 2000 per 100,000.

Imagine if all the people in America who didn't like guns immigrated to different countries and Europe was flooded with American immigrants. Wow my brain just did a ****
User avatar #236 to #226 - knarta (08/23/2013) [-]
"not liking gun" seems like a poor reason to emigrate for me. I mean there are still guns in Europe, look at the shootings in Norway or Germany. I mean I come from Britanny in France, and independentists killed one person blowing up a Mcdonald´s. And South of France is one of the region in Europe where the most people are killed. And don´t get me started in Hungary or Greece or Eastern Europe in general where racist crimes are super common.
If you think of it, the grass isn´t really greener on the other side of the fence
User avatar #240 to #236 - milthyfoustache (08/23/2013) [-]
Not my point, I thought owning guns was illegal in most European countries like it is in my own. I am aware there is gun crime in Europe, I'm from the UK we have gun crime
User avatar #241 to #240 - knarta (08/23/2013) [-]
I almost don´t think it has so much to do with guns being legal. Switzerland is the second country with the most guns per capita, and except for suicides, we never hear of people using their guns to shoot around.
Also, you can get hunting guns in France and the UK with the ammo.
User avatar #243 to #241 - milthyfoustache (08/23/2013) [-]

What's wrong with doing our own thing? It's worked for hundreds of years...
Guns have been illegal here for a long time, police don't carry guns, and that's the way we like it. May I ask which country you are from that is SO much better than the UK?

if you dont know it by now here's a tip: austria

but i didnt mean that austria is so much better than the uk... it was just a damn joke ok man? you know, uk just doesnt really act as an european country, it always bitches around with treatys and wants to go its own way. mostly with usa arm in arm...
#201 - fefe (08/23/2013) [-]
I support gun ownership but to a limit. Have a hand gun and a hunting rifle, that's fine. But some of those other guns are ridiculous. I understand it's fun to shoot guns and **** which is why I propose a compromise. You can rent almost any gun you want with bullets at your local gun range. Shoot it there ten return it when you're done. It does not leave the range.
User avatar #190 - secondlawprevails (08/23/2013) [-]
But if you take away my guns, how am I supposed to massacre fresh fruit on the weekends?
User avatar #189 - shamusogrady (08/23/2013) [-]
I don't think it's fair to take guns away from the responsible and the people whose right it is to have one. And just think for a second, if i stood in a group of people with a gun and fired it in a threateningly manner, I'm pretty damn sure everyone there would wish they had a gun at that moment.
#188 - fefe (08/23/2013) [-]
Jesus you Americans can be stupid sometimes. Your logic here is "we need guns to protect ourselves from people with guns". Now it may be true that gangsters can get their hands on them anyway, but honestly if they were harder to get less people will have them, including gangsters. Now you can say this is ******** but statistically the USA has a pretty high gun-crime rate compared to a huge amount of the western world.
User avatar #183 - lazorman (08/23/2013) [-]
but for serious now
this is a real question:

aren't a lot of the really zealous anti-gun people usually from a large city, or at least a more left-wing part of a state or the country?
I know for a fact that here in tucson, every single person I know that thinks "guns are bad" has never even fired one before, and has no desire to try it.
I'm not saying that means they have no right to an opinion, but does something like that NOT make their argument a bit less solid?
#186 to #183 - arrisarrad (08/23/2013) [-]
It is typically people in urban areas. They either fear gun violence or have been victims of it more. Plus it fits the Liberal political ideology and demographics along party line also tend to develop according to where people live. Urban vs. rural, anti-gun vs. pro-gun, plants vs. zombies, etc.

It all flows together like two swollen river meeting and working together to destroy a dam protecting a quaint little town
User avatar #180 - WHATTHEPISSTRAINE (08/23/2013) [-]
Just remember kiddies, before you form an opinion one way or another for Gun ownership in the USA, remember, Cops here by ruling of the supreme court have NO legal obligation to protect you

Why the hell is Starbucks weighing in on gun rights?
Politicians need to make their stances on controversial issues known so that people can vote with their ideologies, but ******* no one else does.
#141 to #128 - fefe (08/23/2013) [-]
They aren't.
Anti-gunners just have their panties in a bunch because Starbucks doesn't try to ban guns in their stores. They just go with whatever the local laws are.

you are absolutely disgusting for unsupporting the right to own a gun.
do you know how much gun violence has solved? i dont think the police would want

Back when there was the whole "Oreos support gay rights" thing and "Chickfile doesn't" I thought that twix should have done this:

"Left twix supports gay marriage equality. Show your support of gay rights by eating left twix made twix bars"

"Right twix supports traditional marriage. Show your support for traditional american values by eating right made twix bars."
