******* **** , I hate fat people who act like this!
I'm a girl who is around 5 foot 3 and I weigh at least 220 pounds. But I have something special, it's called logical thinking:
~I don't dress like a slut, that's disgusting
~I do go to the gym, but just to work on weight lifting (over coming an arm injury, I have to get the lifting abilities back, long story) and to run a bit (so I can run for more than 3 seconds without getting winded as **** )
~I don't get upset that dating is hard for me, it's not their fault, it's mine, I get it
~I don't think I'm incapable of working, I know that I can, being fat only limits me for being a super model or an athlete, really... I can handle work
~I don't think I'm special, or that I have a disease

Please just know that yes, while a decent amount of fat people are like these assholes in the picture, but not ALL of us are. Some of us have common sense.

Did you know that your type of personality is in psychology books?
People who attack strangers for no other reason but that strangers are a part of a group that has been deemed acceptable targets. Its done by desire to elevate yourself by putting someone down and seek attention and approval by your peers.
It commonly comes with low self esteem, lack of personal success and is often accompanied by sexual dysfunction.

I'm really sorry bro.

#111 to #58 - anon (08/23/2013) [-]
No, he attacked him with reason. This is a classic scenario, e.g. you have to moan at a bunch of moaners to make them stop moaning, which makes you a moaner like them. Though someone has to do it, the fact is the person telling people to stop moaning is right and the moaners are wrong.
#60 to #58 - angelusprimus (08/23/2013) [-]
No, he attacked her for no reason. She wasn't rude, she wasn't arguing, she wasn't doing anything.
He didn't attack her because of something she has DONE, he attacked her because of something she IS. Because attacking fat people is ok right now, and he expected people to support him and think he is funny.
I went after him because of what he has done. Because I don't like bullies and because behavior like that IS caused by low self esteem and lack of personal success.
He should stop it and work on his own self image, because low self image and bullying habits will give him a really ****** prospects in life.

#68 to #67 - angelusprimus (08/23/2013) [-]
Acceptable and unacceptable targets, in psychology, has nothing to do with what you are, aka your behviour, its about being part of a group society has deemed an ok target.
For example, back in the nineties smokers were deemed acceptable targets and they were being extremely rude to, even though they were just smoking quietly outisde in fresh air, and people didn't just accept that, they condoned it.
Now its fat people. They are free to be attacked, the acceptable targets.
While bullies will be protected from responciblity for what they are doing to fat people, defended by people who think similar to them, and that makes them unacceptable targets.
User avatar #70 to #68 - cleverguy (08/23/2013) [-]
you viewed him as psychologically below you and targeted him for insecurity. doesn't seem to different to me.

and now it seems like you're trying to call me a bully for calling you out on it.

just to clarify something, the comment was pretty rude, but unhealthy shouldn't be condoned, so not being accepting of the lifestyle of overweight people isn't necessarily a bad thing. same goes for smokers
#71 to #70 - angelusprimus (08/23/2013) [-]
1: I acted on his bullying, not on his personality or group membership. I called him out on his ******** . That's it.
2: I am implying that there is a reason you came to his defense in less then 5 minutes from me posting. If you had more noble motives, I'm glad to see internet is not filled with exclusively with dickheads.
3: I absolutely agree. But shaming those people, being rude to them and hurting them is contra productive. Most young people who are fat are fat because they have emotional problems they are hiding by overeating, since overeating produces dopamine.
Shaming and hurting them just makes them eat more, so people who are bullying them are not helping, they are making problem bigger.
User avatar #73 to #71 - cleverguy (08/23/2013) [-]

Do we have different medicines for different diseases or does everyone just get a general medicine?
Shaming people who are hurting themselves by trying to deal with emotional problems through self harm, overeating etc. is counter productive.
On the other hand bullying comes from desire to seek approval through cruelty and setting yourself over someone.
Pulling them down, BECAUSE OF THEIR ACTIONS is pretty much only way to make them stop. Because it gives them exactly opposite of what they were trying to achieve.
And do you understand the difference between going against someone over what they are and going against someone over what they DO.
When somoene is cruel, mean and hurtful for no reason, they should be called out upon it. They are not victims, they are bullies. There is a difference.

It's funny because a foot is an imperial unit, the very measurement you seem to hate. Both metric and imperial systems are used in England and as a result I've never seen any confusion when it comes to measurements here.

Ok, now you are just being an idiot.

A stone is a stone, yes, BUT It has another meaning, as a unit of measurement, that has nothing to do with it's other meaning.

I don't literally weigh 10 Stones. because each of those stones have a different weight.

A pound is also a unit of measurement, it has no relation to pebbles or boulders, not even gravel.

in total, we have Stones, Pounds and Ounces. all units of measurement.

its still an idiotic thing to call a unit of measurement.
User avatar #90 to #85 - monkee (08/23/2013) [-]
The imperial system has its origins in the mists of time. The ancient Egyptians certainly used a version to build the pyramids. It is based upon human quantities, ie. an inch is a "thumb", a foot is a foot. Another standard for an inch was three barleycorns. A yard is the distance between your outstretched hand and nose, etc. A cupful is the amount of water you can hold in your cupped hands. A hundredweight is the most a person can carry. A handy sized throwing stone weighs a pound.
A stone is usually 14 pounds Avoirdupois, as decreed by King Edward III in 1340 when Flemish Florentine measures were adopted to aid England's vital international wool trade. Since a pound is meant to be the size of the average sized throwing stone, it makes sense to class 14 of them as an independent 'stone' weight.
#93 to #90 - klutzyspy (08/23/2013) [-]
so a stone is 14 smaller stones?

But yes its an outdated and primitive system.. as well as not being very precise.
User avatar #97 to #93 - monkee (08/23/2013) [-]
Outdated, yes. But it's much much easier to guess a length or volume using imperial than it is using metric. In Britain we are taught both and use them independently. There are also certain things which you cannot use the metric system to measure, including converting types of screw heads etc into metric measurements. My step-father works in a shipyard and there is no correct metric measure for a three-quarter inch screw head, a staple in his building materials. I use metric to understand temperature, volume and weight for small things (such as cooking). I use Imperial for my height, weight and during motoring (e.g PSI, pounds per square inch). The system works, not everything can be divided neatly by ten as the metric sytem does.
#98 to #97 - klutzyspy (08/23/2013) [-]
3/4 inch 3,81 cm
PSI convertion is also quite possible www.ehow.com/how_7633127_convert-psi-metric.html
The only reason it seems hard is because it was chosen to use PSI in stead of pascal.
Do you not use "horsepower" in motoring? that's based of metric units.
User avatar #99 to #98 - monkee (08/23/2013) [-]
I do not understand your repeated attacking and unwillingness to accept that both measurements have their uses.
You are being as stubborn as an american with imperial. I recognised both have their uses. Sure I could convert, but the point I made was that it is easier, rather than being pedantic.
Also, your measurement for 0.75 of an inch is wrong - check your math.
I will not feed the trolls any longer, because if you're too dense to grasp the concept of making life easy I have no hope of educating you further.
Good day.
#100 to #99 - klutzyspy (08/23/2013) [-]
my point is that it only seems easier because its what you were taught. Counting everything in 10's makes it much easier that haveing 3 feet to a yard, 12 inches to a foot etc
#103 to #100 - anon (08/23/2013) [-]
Using that logic it's easier to count time using multiples of ten no? Instead of 24 hours in a day, lets divide it into 20 hours with centihours. Doesn't fit as neatly as you'd like? Maybe dividing by ten doesn't work all the time.
#114 to #103 - klutzyspy (08/23/2013) [-]
im sure it would work, but we are using an old system. the current system is flawed, hence leapyears
User avatar #86 to #85 - mrhazzy (08/23/2013) [-]
so what do you call it?
#87 to #86 - klutzyspy (08/23/2013) [-]
Grams and meters.. you know, the metric system.. We dont walk around saying "i weigh 3 dog and im as tall as if you stacked 6 feet on top of each other"
User avatar #88 to #87 - mrhazzy (08/23/2013) [-]
so your system is different... Big woop? to me, Grams seem to be a too small of a measurement for body weight, that's just going into detail.

I'm 10 Stone, 5 Pounds, not sure what that would be using your system. If you find our system stupid, then maybe you should understand it a bit more before you go bashing it. You need to login to view this link

I don't think your system is stupid, just because it has different names. Hell, yours could be more effective. But I don't care, we have our system. You have yours.
#89 to #88 - klutzyspy (08/23/2013) [-]
that's where we have kilograms, just as you have 14 stone = 1 boulder. (i imagine)
User avatar #91 to #89 - mrhazzy (08/23/2013) [-]
For starters there's no such thing as boulders as a unit of measurement. you clearly do not understand, and do not want to understand, I've given you a link so you can read up on different systems.

In the UK we have Stones and Pounds for body weight, and we use Kilograms, grams and ounces for food recipes and stuff like that.
