According to the book Raising the Bar, Valve's Ken Birdwell had a friend whose 12-year-old brother used to draw. Ken had always liked his work so he asked him, several years later, to do a couple of sketches of possible monsters. He presented sketches of several very sexual-oriented monsters to him and Gabe Newell, managing director, the kind of material Birdwell did not expect. Among them was this "Mr. Friendly", with something that looked like a penis. The creature was to literally "rape" the player, holding them with its tentacled arms until the point of fatal copulation. Birdwell was quite disturbed by the concept and wondered if Newell would like it; it turns out he did. They then chatted about possible psycho-sexual alien behaviors and their relation with disturbed teenager sexual fantasies. The sexual themes of some of the enemies were intended to appeal to the innate homophobia of 12 year old boys, the targeted audience for the game.

That Portal 2 one HAS to be a lie.. and I just dropped 49 cents on it (I had $1.50 from selling a Steam Card, woo) to read through it to find out. I could see 500 years maybe.. but no more than that. Also, from what I googled, A lot of people say it was confirmed to be 300.

OP, got a bit of trivia for you.

On the Battlefield 3 DLC map, Death Valley, inside an open shipping crate high above the map suspended by a crane, a Mirror's Edge runner bag can be found, and I think you can hear the main theme music too a little bit.

A little disappointed they didnt talk about who the gnome is referencing. The man's name is Noam Chomsky. [url deleted]

But didn't they already have a steady portal to Xen? That's why there's an entire research center in the game with creatures from Xen in purposeful containment? The experiment caused the portal to go nuts. If I'm correct, the sample was actually donated by the G-Man.

Time travel is imminent for both portal and HL. I wouldnt doubt that valve plays around with time in the next games. So its still a possibility chell and gordon meet.

think, time portals. instead of relocation portals.

I'm almost certain the borealis contains this technology.

At the peak of my achievement whoring days, I carried Gnome Chomsky all the way through HL2 Ep. 2 and earned the "Little Rocket Man" achievement. Worst. Achievement. Ever. I was so ashamed.

Hitman Blood Money: a less known easter egg is the newspaper headlines found on the floors lying around in the back areas of the "Curtain Call" level. One which reads in french: "Hippopotame bleu est invisible, personne peut le voir. Partir furtivement comme un ninja japonais. Vous tes tous ouverture d'anus de 100%!" Which translates into: "Blue hippopotamus is invisible, nobody can see it. To leave furtively like a Japanese ninja. You are all 100% assholes! " Which is a reference to an extremely popular late night danish television back when Blood Money was being developed. Link below shows a clip from it with english sub.
