As someone who is neutral about religion living in a super christian home (for the summer, jobs are good around here) I find this hilarious.

I don't really see how a blessed cross is supposed to persuade someone. Still, it's better than a crucifix. It always kind of creeps me out when I walk into someone's house and see a big wooden carving of a man nailed onto a cross. Maybe I'll get one of a man clutching a stab wound on his chest.

Eh, my ex-gf's mom gave me a rosary and had me go to church with them every time she could. Don't know what she tried to achieve, I just couldn't give a **** about her beliefs, indulging her meant spending more time with the gf, that's why I did it.

That is quite strange. And yeah, I guess you gotta keep the parents happy.

I'd like to say something like "who cares if you're atheist, get on with your life how you please" but, you know, I don't really feel like being bombarded with red thumbs like the people who were actually logical and said that. I'm ready for your rage.

I dislike all those super nanny Christians who force god on to everyone. I also hate the atheists who hate all cross statues and churches, but put up a atheist church or a statue and its fine.
User avatar #153 to #103 - mechaemperor (08/02/2013) [-]
How exactly do you put up a statue about not believing in any gods?
+1

the one thing i don't understand is that, if an extreme religious person believes the other person is going to hell, why would they still be like repent or stop being a certain thing. If they believe they are not going to heaven wouldn't they be happier because they believe the other person isn't going to the same place after death? Example westboro baptist church trying to get rid of gays. Shouldn't they be like oh they're not going where we're going so it doesn't matter. Whats the point of the hate?

Reminds me of my friends dad who converted to Judaism about 8 years ago and as far as I know has not told the rest of his ultra-religious family. Some of the stories from them coming to visit are golden.

to people getting butthurt, there's a difference between walking up to your aunt, receiving a cross from her and doing this, and actually letting your aunt into your home as a guest, her giving it to you in an act of pity and hoping to convert you, and then doing this.
It's rude as a guest to impress your beliefs on someone, it's just impolite and pompous.
User avatar #276 to #273 - vivapinatapro (08/02/2013) [-]
Buying someone a cross isn't forcibly converting them. Sharing your faith isn't rude. In fact, if a Christian is doing as they should, they follow "The Great Commission" which is essentially sharing their beliefs at every opportunity. You don't have to act offended just because someone wants to share their faith with you, regardless of either yours or theirs.
User avatar #282 to #276 - thepandaking (08/02/2013) [-]
no I get what you mean, it's not impolite to "share" your beliefs, not at all. It's impolite to bring it into a home that you're a guest of, my very religious half brother came uninvited to our home from across state, so we let him stay for nearly a week unanounced, and the whole while he was questioning me about what I believed and if I had any doubts about god then why, and all that jazz, and putting a whole papaya's worth of papaya (papayas are big) on my plate after I'd eaten and telling me I should eat it, and saying I should eat healthier and whatnot<- which would be a nice thing if he weren't an unanounced guest and if he were saying it as a suggestion not as something that should be done.

I'm just saying it gets weird when people act like they're in the right and they want to do good by showing other people the right. Those people in particular don't seem to get that other people think they're in the right as well, but keep to themselves.
