speaking as a christian (there's christians on fj, get over it) this is just wrong. I can take a joke, but you dont see us using pride flags to start a camp fire or anything.
User avatar #169 to #151 - anonymoose ONLINE (07/29/2013) [-]
If you're ever cold and have a pride flag and nothing else that burns, feel free to burn it. I don't think a lot of people will find that insulting.
User avatar #154 to #151 - basilbrush (07/29/2013) [-]
That's because the majority of gays don't preach hate. And they don't follow an outdated book to make excuses for ****** behaviour.
User avatar #199 to #154 - anonymoose ONLINE (07/29/2013) [-]
The majority of Christians don't preach hate. Also, the age of a book is irrelevant, Euclid's Elements was written in 300 BC and is still a relevant book.
User avatar #158 to #154 - soontobefamous (07/29/2013) [-]
all i'm saying is, people shouldnt do or say something that is offensive to something as broad as an entire religion. People get caught in the crossfire of 'jokes' like this, hate fuels hate, and just because i am taught kindness doesnt mean i cant get pissed (im not now...i just REALLY dont care for this)
User avatar #156 to #154 - soontobefamous (07/29/2013) [-]
Majority is not a good word to use. The christian religion preaches kindness, not hate. Saying that 'christians' hate anyone is like saying all gay guys hit on everybody, or all muslims are terrorists.
User avatar #157 to #156 - basilbrush (07/29/2013) [-]
Well then, if majority is wrong, then the outspoken ones. If you guys don't want that image for yourself, then make it heard, otherwise, that is how people will view you. Also, there is enough religious wars going on to warrant the fact that religion is a thin veil to spread ignorant ideologies and unexplained hate.
#159 to #154 - bakakinji (07/29/2013) [-]
The majority of Christians don't preach hate either. WBC and a few others are just ****** up in the head.

Chrisitans are the most hateful religion from what i have seen...

And i live in the bible belt
User avatar #259 to #184 - bakakinji (07/30/2013) [-]
But Christianity teaches to accept and love your neighbors. The thing is, over hundreds of years, people became more and more strict and hateful. It's like a game of telephone; it starts from one side as a message of love and by the end, someone decided to **** with it and apparently now, we hate the gays. Personally, I consider myself a devoted Christian and while I don't agree that men should marry other men, I'm not gonna try to stop their way of life.
User avatar #173 to #154 - durkadurka (07/29/2013) [-]
So what you're saying is: "it's okay for me to do it because HE did it too!"

You shouldn't treat someone like **** just because they do; that shows that you're just the same as them.
User avatar #176 to #173 - basilbrush (07/29/2013) [-]
No, I'm saying "why can't someone use a bible as a plate, but it's ok for Christians (be it whatever amount, you're still following the same book) to preach hate in the name of God.
User avatar #181 to #176 - durkadurka (07/29/2013) [-]
Because he's just not using the bible as a plate. He's being antagonistic simply to piss other people off.

Why else would you go through the trouble of posting this to the internet?
User avatar #63 - gardenmanly (07/29/2013) [-]
I don't know... I kinda agreed with the comment saying it was a little disrespectful. I'm not personally christian but its still just not cool..

Even if you don't personally agree with it, doesn't mean you should desecrate it. People are not trying to drink soup out of yamakas or using buddha statues as rolling pins or gay pride flags as napkins. Look, to some people it means a lot. If you are out of plates, use a paper towel or wash your dishes.

I apologize if I have an unpopular opinion on this.
User avatar #79 to #63 - funnyjunkianonetwo (07/29/2013) [-]
The person is just being a prick, he probably took the picture then stopped the microwave and removed the Bible, because someone would want it. If he really didn't care about the book that much he wouldn't own it.
#92 to #63 - trollxmaster (07/29/2013) [-]
As an American, I can disrespect anything i want. I can desecrate the bible, the Qur'an, anything. Just because it offends people doesn't mean I can't do it. People have every right to be offended, but people have every right to offend. Freedom.

Not trying to be a dick, I just love freedom, and prefer people being offended versus losing the freedom to offend.
**** political correctness.
User avatar #215 to #92 - gardenmanly (07/29/2013) [-]
Yes, you have the freedom to desecrate whatever you want. But people should also have the morality to be respectful. I am also American, and the people who gave us our rights and freedom knew that the privilege of such ideals came with the responsibility to use them appropriately. Its true, you have the freedom to disrespect anything you want, but you should have the morality to respect what other people hold dear.
User avatar #255 to #215 - trollxmaster (07/29/2013) [-]
LOL morality. Okay buddy. I only show respect to people whom have earned it. If i dont respect you, i have no reason to respect the things you hold dear. Especially if it is a stupid book that is used to breed control, hate, war, and death.

Atheists use an ignorance fallacy to rationalize their atheism: they don't understand how God exists, so they say that he doesn't exist at all. This sort of reasoning is akin to saying that extra-terrestrial civilizations don't exist because humans haven't discovered any yet. The human brain is all the evidence we need of an intelligent designer. But on top of that we also have the Bible with thousands of fulfilled prophesies, and rooted historical evidence of Christ. Simple logic leads to the reality and truth of the resurrection. Why are they so willfully ignorant? Many atheists simply hate the truth, and twist things to fit the lie they love. They don't want God,so they simply close their eyes to the obvious and then use the arguments that are simply based on the ignorance and hatred, but very little on logical fact.If your eyes are twisted, then the picture you will see will also be twisted.

Why not?

He's being intentionally disrespectful. He is using the Bible as a plate. To warm pizza. How is that not intentionally disrespectful?
Also: he took time to take a picture of it.

Last time I checked the glass plate in that microwave works just fine while one is heating pizza.

I dont see anything wrong with doing this

Its just a bunch of paper with letters on it

It wasnt created (The copy) by this so called "God" of the christian faith

and in the bible nowhere does it say "Dont stick the ******* bible in the microwave"

User avatar #217 to #183 - JipJop (07/29/2013) [-]
Nowhere in the bible does it say 'Don't wipe your ass with these pages'. Nowhere in the american constitution does it say 'Don't set our flag on fire and piss out the flames'.
It doesn't make it any less disrespectful, retard.
#218 to #217 - derpyhoovezz (07/29/2013) [-]
Theres a big Diffrence between using something as a plate for microwaveing stuff

and wipeing your ass with it/setting it on fire, retard
User avatar #220 to #218 - JipJop (07/29/2013) [-]
No there isn't.
It's a book made for reading and interpretation.
If it were used in a situation where it was desperately needed, for example as fuel for a fire on a freezing cold night, that's acceptable. But if you're just going to make a mockery of it by reducing it to something as common as a plate when it means so much to so many people then you're just an asshole.
