"McArthur rules Japan"
Okay, I get it, Japan was on the axis and had to be made to surrender somehow.
I get it that the innocent civilians were helping the war effort in the factories.
But Nuking them twice and then wearing it like a trophy...

Am I the only one who hates the America for that?

True, but here's a counter-point:
The Japanese people stood behind their emperor completely, and if US troops had to resort to a land invasion, both US and Japanese losses would have been much higher, and for Japan that would include massive civilian deaths.

Mind you I do agree that it was a dick move.

The US were standing behind their president, too.

Japanese citizens believed Emperor Hirohito to be a god and would do anything for him including fight until none of them were left. Surrender was considered to be the equivalent of spitting in the emperor's face. US citizens did not stand by their leader in the same fanatical way.

Yes, but the Japanese weren't invading America

that's because if they had went to America they would have to deal with constant wave after wave of Americans considering much of American armaments were made in America plus constant assault from the sea in their flanks.

they could of just dropped the bomb near the japanese shore to show them that they had that kind of weapon. I dont think that the human casualties acctually made a difference in the japanese decision to surrender, it was more of the fear for the technology.

Not necessarily. If we just blew up nukes away from their cities, they could have called us cowards and boasted how we didn't have the nerve to use such a powerful weapon on them, and they wouldn't have surrendered.

You also have to realize, the only other option other than nukes was invasion of the homeland. Reports showed that they were arming women and children and were teaching civilians that death was better and more honorable than surrender and imprisonment. Even before than we've seen entire populations commit mass suicide by jumping off cliffs like lemmings because their town was being captured. Casualties on both sides would have been in the millions, and Japan would be rendered to a desolate wasteland.

Compared to this, two cities, with most of the victims killed instantaneously, is a considerably lesser evil than millions who die slowly under the harsh conditions of war.

your example just shows that casualties meant nothing to the japanese, thus i would say it was certainly not nescescary to kill all those people in order to scare the japanese government off. It was soley the fear off the technology

You know, if America had never insisted in being part of the war, then Germany would never have gone to Japan for help.

I hate America for that.
Not the people; the violent part of the culture.
Those wars may have destroyed peaceful Germany. The Germany that was loved and trusted by Europe, but the same happened to America.

The only difference, is that Germany has healed, while America has not. America is still trigger happy and war mongering.

Well, for starters, we don't have any multinational superpower conflicts or terrible president resignations going on.

Except Syrian conflicts, I guess.
