Well, soldiers are supposed to die, that's like a quarter of their entire job description.

Soldiers volunteer to be in danger, it's a risk. If we mourned every single soldier we would be a world of constant grief. As for the ham-planet dying, that's just morons.

How is it heroic to die fighting the oil wars? Iraq and Afghanistan aren't a threat to the US.

I dunno how being in the army makes a person a hero, really. Armymen can do heroic things and I'm sure they do. But on facebook I saw a friend share a picture of two of the people I went to school with in army attire, one was a bully and the other was a moron. They both got terrible grades and dropped into the army as it was the only place that would take them. I'm training to be a nurse, like my parents who have both been nurses for thirty years, I'll be saving lives one day. Does that not make me a hero?

Another point to consider, why does a profession that involves taking lives make you a hero, rather than doctors/ nurses/ firemen and any job where you're saving lives? It is heroic to, as it stands, do nothing for your country since when was the last time USA/ UK, etc had a war to fight that wasn't essentially farmers?

Worlds a silly place.
