Obviously the most sensible explanation is a vast conspiracy involving the cooperation of thousands of people.

If you walk outside on a hot day, it's hawt, cause the sun. And that fool like a couple 90 million miles from us. And space is supposed to be cold... But if the sun is there is it colder or hotter?
#123 to #108 - angelusprimus (07/20/2013) [-]
Space is not hot or cold, space is vacuum, it doesn't cool or heat.
Now if you are directly exposed to sun infrared radiation, you are being heated much more then you would be on earth. Because there is no dispersal. So it is a lot hotter.
When you are not in direct sunlight, you are not being heated at all. So effect on outer surface is cold.
BUT, you could be in a space ship, out of the sun and still boil to death.
Because heat you have in the space ship, which is slowly buidling up (engines, body heat etc.) has no where to go, vacuum does not transfer heat.
So if you have no way of getting rid of heat, you could boil to death in the darkest of space.

www.hq.nasa.gov/alsj/alsjcoords.html

They know where they are. It's kind of an important piece of data given that they still use retroreflectors left on the moon by the apollo missions to measure the distance to the moon very accurately. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_Laser_Ranging_experiment

The russians tried to place some of their own but the automated drones couldn't carry large enough retrofelctors and even then it couldn't place them exactly right.
