Ok the funnyjunk community seriously lacks any understanding of why the Beatles deserve your respect. before the beatles turned up the only real rock and roll music was elvis presley and jerry lee louis. and they all played the same 3 chord rock and roll songs (all following the I-IV-V chord progression). when the beatles came out they brought new elements and new combinations of chords to music. they basically revolutionized the way songs were composed and paved the way for bands like the rolling stones and led zeppelin to come up with even more variation. the beatles are the one's who first started improvising past the rock n roll cliche's and broke free and created a new understanding on how rock n roll music can be composed. if the beatles had not done it, genres like hard and metal wouldn't have come to be.
That is why you should respect the beatles even though you don't like their music.

I don't think they truly revolutionized rock and roll music. While they were busy singing love songs, Led Zeppelin, CCR, and AC/DC were rocking the **** out.

you missed my point if beatles hadnt changed music, from the 3 chord progression there would have never been a led zeppelin or anything else to rock out to. the brought the initial change, that is the most important. led zep, and the rest of them just took from there.

The most annoying thing in the world to me are the girls that say they like "The Beatles" and tell me their favorite one was Ringo
1. They say they like Ringo because they want to be "different" and cool
2. Sometimes they base their entire personalities around this band when they don't even like it as much as they like to pretend
3. Also they go crazy
I told one that I thought they liked Pre-Teen pop, she and her friends said "No! Are you crazy, I listen to The Beatles"
Then I say, "You have Fallout Boy, and Metro on your phone."
But they keep yelling so I just stop giving a ****
Also she says she likes Zelda, how shes played it so much as a kid, and goes on about it like its her life
I ask her whats her favorite one, she says shes only played one and doesn't want to bother playing the others. (I still understand that you can be obsessed with a series even if you've only played one title of the game, so this point is debatable)
Like seriously can these girls stop trying to be something there not, instead of focusing on being ******* Zoey Deschanele from 500 Days of Summer try something original for christs sake
I've seen this type of girl like 50 ******* times, you're not cool because you're pretending to be something your not

Picture is what I wanted to do when they kept complaining -_-

There you go, praising them to such an extent. I realise the Beatles were an influence, but they are still referred to as 'THA BEST BAND EVAR'. Yes, they were some of the first to bring a new genre to the table, but so many other have perfected the genre and brought it to something much more than the Beatles did in their time. As for your comment on AC/DC, they're not ****, but its a matter of preference. The Stones are consistently referred to by people who have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to classic rock and roll.

I'd agree with the Stones and AC DC, but it's really hard to state just how massive the influence of the Beatles's was. How much it did for the music industry; along with the fact that many musicians today only picked up an instrument because they were inspired by them. But, to each his own.

The Beatles is good, but in this age, its listened to, by two kinds of people, those who actually like the music, and listen to it for entertainment; and those who listen to it so people think they're cultured and are cool, because they dont listen to kanye or something like that.

Well I'm not into the electronic music **** thats been contaminating music for a while (not that all electronic artists are bad cause there are some that I actually respect even thou I dislike their music) but Daft Punk is one of the few I can listen, they actually in difference of others, they know how to play instruments and everything is composed by them not like some artists I won't mention that only take existing tracks and mix em alter pitch and rythm add some noise and have a song, I won't say that being an electronic artist is hard because I have tried it myself and its pretty simple the only hard part of it is being patient and consistent with trying to get "what you want" which is the only prop I give to them.

I've been forced to listen to Abbey road and the White album by a beatlemaniac friend of mine and I could not enjoy any of it at all. I just don't see the appeal. But i guess that could be said for the music i play/listen to ( I play bass in a melodic hardcore band)

I can tolerate every genre of music, except Christian rock. Every song is the same. It's not because of the Christian part, it's because they all have the same topic and are pretty generic in music.

as a person who primary listens to music with lots of instruments and complex sounds i find rap to be a bit lacking
metal is normally a three piece band
jazz varies wildly on how many instruments it has but normally has around 5 people doing ****
alternative is not really a genre so you cant say
classical has a whole ******* orchestra
ska 5 is a standard
punk 3 piece is the norm unless you get into the sub genres which always have extra stuff
rap is one guy with a constant base
the point im making is, from my perspective, instrumentation makes the music and rap is utterly lacking in it

and hip-hop master race? i disagree but respect your opinion

I can easily understand being indifferent to the beatles, or not actively liking them. It's just when people say that they hate the beatles or that they're so overrated that I don't trust it. For a group that has so many - and so very different - songs, saying that there's nothing you like about them strikes me as a bit affected.
Full disclosure, Ringo *is* my favourite beatle, because I grew up watching Yellow Submarine, and he's funny.
