**** this ******* post. I have never met a beatles fan who is like that. And just for the sake of discussion, beatles is without a doubt the most influential band of all time. Whether you like them or not, they have helped shape a lot of the music you probably like.

Ok the funnyjunk community seriously lacks any understanding of why the Beatles deserve your respect. before the beatles turned up the only real rock and roll music was elvis presley and jerry lee louis. and they all played the same 3 chord rock and roll songs (all following the I-IV-V chord progression). when the beatles came out they brought new elements and new combinations of chords to music. they basically revolutionized the way songs were composed and paved the way for bands like the rolling stones and led zeppelin to come up with even more variation. the beatles are the one's who first started improvising past the rock n roll cliche's and broke free and created a new understanding on how rock n roll music can be composed. if the beatles had not done it, genres like hard and metal wouldn't have come to be.
That is why you should respect the beatles even though you don't like their music.

The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and AC/DC are some of the most over rated bands ever. Not to say their music is bad, but really, the praise is too much..

I'd agree with the Stones and AC DC, but it's really hard to state just how massive the influence of the Beatles's was. How much it did for the music industry; along with the fact that many musicians today only picked up an instrument because they were inspired by them. But, to each his own.

I like them a lot, but I don't care whether others do or do not. I feel the people who don't enjoy them are missing out, but I think most people think that way about their favorite band.

I feel the same way about Daft Punk, I've tried so hard to find it listen-able. But I just can't. Daft Punk is so overrated, it's insane. But that's just my opinion

I've been forced to listen to Abbey road and the White album by a beatlemaniac friend of mine and I could not enjoy any of it at all. I just don't see the appeal. But i guess that could be said for the music i play/listen to ( I play bass in a melodic hardcore band)

I can tolerate every genre of music, except Christian rock. Every song is the same. It's not because of the Christian part, it's because they all have the same topic and are pretty generic in music.

but... I like all of those things...

Speaking of, Metal Heads of FJ, do you have any recommendations for people curious about the genre but new to it? I have a friend who's been recommending me an album a week for over a month now, and so far the ones I really love are:
Metallica - Master of Puppets (I've yet to hear a song of theirs I dislike)
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake
Judas Priest - British Steel
Also, I looked up Bastards by Motorhead on my own and loved it. Based on that, do you have any recommendations?

I can easily understand being indifferent to the beatles, or not actively liking them. It's just when people say that they hate the beatles or that they're so overrated that I don't trust it. For a group that has so many - and so very different - songs, saying that there's nothing you like about them strikes me as a bit affected.
Full disclosure, Ringo *is* my favourite beatle, because I grew up watching Yellow Submarine, and he's funny.
