Interviewer pretty much said "I'm not white, I'm Jewish". He got his ethnicities and religions mixed up. Dummies like this are easy prey for the unerring logic of Morgan Freeman.

Jewish can classify as an ethnicity. An ethnicity is a group with a heritage of common cultural and national traditions. That includes religion. It's actually a controversy in the Jewish community.

However, it is not a race like African. That requires a certain standard of common genetic sequences among the people that result in constant phsycial traits like skin color. It is far broader than ethnicity and has roots in evolutionary theory.

so I should have said "race" instead of "ethnicity" in that last sentence?

Jew: Applies to basically anyone that either follows Judaism and or follows the traditions of Jews.
Israeli: A nationality that applies to those that live in Israel, regardless if they're Jewish or not, or even Hebrew for that matter.
A less common term we don't hear too much:
Hebrew: Which can refer to the people that started Judaism, and can in some ways be referred to some Jewish and/or Israeli people today.

In other words, it's complicated.

He's a liar and a hypocrite. When asked about the Tea Party, rather than address anything they actually had to say regarding Obama, which is certainly debatable, he just played the race card and said they all hate him because he's black.

He can sit there and spout racial harmony and downplaying differences all he likes, but he and so many like him are perfectly willing to throw out "racist" when he knows it'll score him easy points and he has nothing more intelligent to say.

It's not "standing up against racism", it's "using 'racist' as a substitute for a real argument". If you listen to tea partiers bitch about Obama and honestly think they only don't like Obama because he's black, then you're a moron.

No, it's really not. I advise you to actually research the Tea Party's motives and speeches before you do any more name calling. You'll save us both the trouble.

Same thing with sexism. All these dumb feminists bitching and moaning about every little thing perpetuates the differences. If we shut up about rape, and wage differences, etc, maybe people will forget and see people as people and not people as gendered. Granted it would take a while, but.. nothing seems to be working when it's picked at to death.

Just ignoring something won't make it go away. It will probably even make it worse.

And rape and wage differences and racism all that existed before people really started talking about it. Why would it stop after people stop talking about it? You can't influence or change people's minds about a subject if you never address the subject. If you don't try to change something, you'll never get anywhere.

I agree with yutakenusername You can't stop crime by not talking about it. Children are beaten/abused/molested by their parents, and often are too scared to tell anyone, but they still get abused

You say nothing is working, yet how else did women get voting rights and any working rights in the first place? As much as people like to bitch about feminism, we needed it to get where we are. Now I know that everyone on here hates feminists and that whole movement, but this is a point. I do, however, realize that there are some feminists that take it way too far and really do just think all men are pigs which is obviously not true. My point is there has to be activists or else females would never have the rights they deserve in the past, present, nor future. Just like blacks needed activist to get their rights too. There's always people who take it too far, but that doesn't mean the whole movement is wrong.

His comment boils down to him being confused about what the movement is actually about. He obviously doesn't know what feminism actually is, probably because all you see and hear about it is these whack jobs talking about a culture of rape. Real feminism is noble and worthwhile and deserves more support than it has. True equality will take time, but we're closer than we've ever been imo. I think his intentions were good with the comment, he just has no clue how absolutely retarded it sounded lol.

He's still a colour, he's being racist by avoiding declaring himself white.

Jewish people have more melanine in their skin than european white races. That's why if a jew and a ginger sped the same time on the beach under the sun, the ginger will have a stronger sunburn. Thus, they look the same colour, but they aren't. It's like pink and salmon.

This is the same as all those singers some people dont like, instead of not talking about them and ignoring them we make fun of them and things like that keeping the attention on them. im sure people like justin beiber are famous more because of the people that hate him then because of his fans.

I don't quite agree with that.

If you quit talking bout something that's already an obvious problem. (Because there will always be one person who wonders why everyone elses skin is different.) It will just become a giant elephant that will soon lift it's trunk and let loose the loudest trumpet in mankind history.

So not talking about it won't help. But talking about it froma difeerent approach would. Besides the only racists left today are old people and their offspring that they taught their racism to. Racism won't stop, but it's losing its hold.

You're exactly right. They did studies where they studied kids who never had race brought up as an issue, and children naturally favored and trusted people of the skin color of their parents/guardians, the people who most looked like them, because they were the people closest to them.

If you never bring up race, then there's a decent chance that a number of people won't really learn that there isn't an inherent difference with them since all you will know is what is obvious and on the surface.
