I am hoping so hard that this is fake bullshit propaganda against feminists. But, it feels real. Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ, this13 year old chick would have been a hipster if she hadn't been born yesterday. At least hipsters only destroyed original music; these girls are destroying the reputation of a century-old civil-rights movement. So THIS is what my male feminist friends complain about when they talk about "feminists." We are no all like that. Of course sexism goes both ways, of course society is unfair towards men in many ways, Jesus Christ. Feminism was a word invented back in a time when the American woman's problem was much worse than the mens'. It was never about women being better than men, it was supposed to be about equality, and treating each other like humans.

Both of these people are idiots o-o

I consider myself a "feminist" but I hate the negative connotation that goes along with that word.
I don't hate men.
I just believe that women should only be sexualized when they want to be (and the same goes for men).
The argument that a women was wearing too revealing of clothing isn't fair. A girl doesn't deserve to be leered at or cat called just because she wanted to wear short shorts in 100 degree (f, 30ish c).

It really isn't a compliment to be cat called. I know you guys may have good intentions, but women are raised to be afraid of being attacked, or at least, a good percent are. It's very unsettling to be walking home and get comments from men who could easily overpower you, asking how much sex is or saying "nice tits" (especially if they're in a car or a group).

The same goes with online. I livestream video games and I get comments and least every other stream, and I only have around 175 followers (most of whom follow me only because I'm a girl).
I go out of my way to cover shoulders, cleavage, and everything, and I'm still harassed.

It's okay to be talking to a girl and having an actual conversation, and to politely say "oh by the way, I think you're very pretty" as long as your make sure she won't be made to feel uncomfortable.
It's all about making sure your don't cross boundaries.
Women are twice as likely to be raped than they are to develop breast cancer.
Give us space. We've been raised to be scared and many of us have been harassed before.
More than anything, it's an invasion of our privacy, our personal space, and our security.

And remember, men can be raped too.
Men can be made to feel like objects, and you deserve the right to stand up for yourself if someone makes you uncomfortable. Society just kind of shows people sometimes that hot people are there for their entertainment. That includes men and women.

The way I see it, it's like religion. The groups are known for their extremists instead of their medians.

Guys who aren't feminist get a bad rep because of the assholes, and people who are feminist get a bad rep because of men-hating "feminists".

I suggest asking a self-proclaimed feminist what their personal definition of feminism is if it comes up in conversation ~

Well, I didn't read the whole thing (not even close) but they both sound like idiots. The chick is just more of an idiot than the guy but he's still a idiot (note that I just read until the point that they're discussing "don't dress slutty if you don't want to be raped", maybe he gave great points after, I just don't really care that much)
#324 - anonymous (07/18/2013) [-]
I 100% agree that the person was retarded.
What annoys me is that people seriously think only slutty girls get raped. The whole cop uniform/whore uniform joke is great and I agree, but just because someone dresses skimpy doesn't mean it's okay to rape them. When it comes to them being a whore, yes, but if she says "no" to having sex with you, just because she's dressed badly doesn't mean you force it anyways.
Plus how does that make sense for guys or children who get raped. And there's a fine amount of girls who don't wear whore uniforms that get raped. (I'm talking raped, not had sex and cried wolf.) I personally would be one of them. I've never worn shorts that go up above my knee caps, and wear shirts that go up to my collar bone and cover myself completely, yet I was a victim of rape 6 years ago.
It's not something to take so lightly, and not just for females, any one of any gender, age, race, etc. No one deserves to be raped, including people that dress skimpy.

TL;DR but i need to say something: Ok ok ok, the woman was stupid and not all her argument was right BUT the guy was stupid too, there is no woman asking for a rape and they should dress as they want, it's also the guy's role to be educated to not rape a girl just because she's dressed sexy as fuck.

Okay, I'm probably going to get an assload of red thumbs here.. but uh, I do believe women have it harder than men in some categories. Not all, and men do have it worse in others.. but in the ones that I care about for me personally, they're harder. That's why I'm transgendered and go by Jake now. I can't stand being a woman, I'd much rather take on the male struggles of life. Also, I feel the need to kick the dead horse here by saying: OH MY GOD THAT CHICK IS FUCKING RETARDED. I really hope she does not reproduce and raise her children to think that way. I am ashamed to be have to share the same gender code as her, and glad now that I'm changing it the most I can.

Tldr: I am ashamed to be female because of bitches like that.

lmfao Bro/Sis/whatever you'd like to be called, you just won a green thumb from me for this rant.

That said, lets just all agree to this. (none of this is directed toward you in anyway)
1. There is no such thing as "rape culture". If a rape joke pisses you off that much, seek counseling. You have a problem dealing with life.
2. Women have it better in some cases, men do in others. Thats just the way it is. Maybe men and women should be a bit more equal in some respects, but I'd say we're at a decent standpoint on that topic now.
3. The point of "men can't get raped by women" brought up in this post is by far one of the most insulting things you could ever say to a man.
4. Women's lives are naturally harder than men's, because period, pregnancy, and the added emotional load women are born with.

I'm a guy, I consider myself a gentlemen, and I think these things are fair to both sides. Hell, I don't even think there should be sides. This isn't a war. This is a social debate. Which is why I hate when Feminazis act like all men (especially guys like me who couldn't hurt someone, male or female, if they tried) are out to rape, murder, or assault them.

TL; DR this post makes me angry in places I didn't know my mind existed in.

I even logged in for this.
Wow. Just wow. I consider myself to be very sensible, I can always see both sides of things. But this... I couldn't. Now, I don't agree entirely with what he said, and more so of what she said.
Feminism is like communism really. In concept, it is a really good idea, all women should be treated as equals in the eyes of society and every other way. They should be paid equal if they do the exact same thing a man does and they have the same amount of training. But back to my point. Like I said, in concept it is a really good idea. Just like communism, where everyone is treated equally and is paid the same and holds the same amount of power. But in reality, both concepts are never executed properly, thus never truly working out. Feminism can work, but they are focusing too much (in my opinion) like this women is, pointing out only about rape.
Our culture today is fucked up, not gonna lie. If women want to be equal, let them. I see no problem viewing them as an equal. But don't hide behind the men should pay and you can't hit me because I'm a girl shit. The feminist movement isn't the only movement out there trying to get their voice heard. The gay community has been fighting to get equal rights for marriage for years and they don't do it the same way the feminist are. And look what they have done. Little by little states are allowing gays to marry.
Society is just fucked up. Not every man wants to rape every women they met. Some do, but we call them psychos and are mentally unfit for society as it is. Just treat everyone nice and not be a cunt, then the world would be a better place.

Also, men can get raped. Not only by men, but women too. Strap ons, yo. There are girls who are into that shit.
/rant
TL;DR? DONT BE A CUNT, JUST BE NICE AND TREAT EVERYONE LIKE A HUMAN BEING YOU TWAT

#362 - larknok (07/18/2013) [-]
1) There is no such thing as a 'slut.' If you want to believe sex makes you dirty, join the horde of people who hate themselves for it. I'm an 18 year old virgin dude, just so yall know. Regardless of whether or not a girl chooses to choke on thirty dicks in a week, I will respect her on the basis of whether or not she can hold a conversation intellectually, not on the basis of how many penises she has had that haven't been mine.

2) There is no such thing as American Rape Culture. The worst we have is slut-shaming, which, if you ask me, is the back-bone of where this idea of Rape Culture comes from. Here, this is a philosophy professor from Clarke University, and a woman at that, who obliterated the assertion of American Rape Culture back in 1994. Of course, neo-feminists don't read both angles: You need to login to view this link

3) While women can choose how to dress themselves, telling them that looking attractive is "asking for rape" makes about as much sense as telling a friend that they shouldn't ever disagree with you, or you might just stab and murder them. Real, forcible rape has little to nothing to do with wearing makeup or not.
#533 to #362 - anonymous (07/18/2013) [-]
i don't completely agree with the conclusion of the first point though i don't support your reasoning for the conclusion, I have yet to read the article but i believe i shall find it an interesting read, and for the final point you made, i do not believe that the way women dress constitutes "asking for it" which i believe to have more to do with the actions they take as opposed to what they wear, in the above picture as i recall he was using the point of the way women dress to support his opinion that the reason women are sexualized so often in the media and in society is due to the appearance they give off, such things as wearing revealing clothing.
#793 to #533 - larknok (07/19/2013) [-]
Seeing as you didn't give reasons for disagreeing with my first point, I'm going to assume the least: that what I've said is too cloudy, and I should clarify. What I'm saying is that however many penises a girl takes ultimately has nothing to do with whether or not I show her respect. What does matter, however, is how they treat other people, how they refer to other people, if they can carry an intellectual conversation on something like women's rights, or evolution, or pick your topic. What they do at the end of the day in their bedroom is their personal choice. The word 'slut' itself implies that sex is somehow degrading. This is a lesson many men and women have had drilled into their heads from a young age. Does it stop them from having sex? Not in the slightest. Does it make them feel disgusted with themselves after? Yeah, of course. This is why women are afraid of the word. Is there any actual reason to believe sex is degrading? Nope.

The read itself is excellent. The philosophy professor just obliterates the statistic feminists love throwing around: 1/4 women are sexually assaulted in their lifetimes. She shows how its inflated and false, and how because of them, real funding isn't going to places it should be. Definitely recommend it.

As for your last point, I mean, you're treating a loop like it's one-sided. You're suggesting that the woman dressed revealingly first and the media followed suit. You could just as easily argue that the media came first and the dress followed suit. If you ask me however, I think human nature and the right to dress that way without being beaten came first, and the action followed.

Rape is on the perpetrator just as much as it is with murder. Certainly the victim can take actions towards avoiding the crime, but they are never to blame. In fact, there is little a woman can even do to avoid rape other than never leave her house. "Dress" has nothing to do with rape.
