it seems to me that when you wake up in the middle of the night, your brain is groggy and isnt firing at full reasoning capacity. This would be a bad time to make decisions as you are unable to fully grasp the implications of each choice. You will end up choosing the most obvious, brazen, or easiest path to take, or just take a random swing at the decision and go back to bed, ignoring the nuances of any other choices.

It would be bad to make a snap decision in your sleep. What the OP doesn't mention is that this should be a decision you've spent all day working on. Then, when your body is idling, your brain will try to solve problems.

When I was in college, I couldn't solve a calculus problem during a test, and my mind just couldn't give up not knowing the answer. I couldn't do it all day, but at night, I dreamt about it and solved it in my dream. I was so excited that it woke me up, at which point I wrote the problem out and found that what I did in my dream was the correct way to get the answer. I thought it was pretty cool...until I realized I dreamt about solving math problems.

I know what you're talking about, and I'm positive it uses different parts of your brain then OP is referring to. I didn't type it up there, but I think the best time for decision making is either while you're asleep if it can work out like you suggest, or about an hour after waking up. Your brain should either be using its sub-conscience to work it out, or should be turned on to its fullest.
i think that makes sense...

this is the worst idea I ever seen. I'd just wake up go to write some thing then just think about the my option wasting my sleep time.

This doesn't work for an insomniac. One, you never know when you'll be asleep. Two waking up in the middle of your sleep is normal, so you won't be any better off.

Bitches, it's simple. Flip a coin, and while it's in the air, you'll usually hope it lands on one side or the other. Ignore results of coin, you now know which choice you want.
