Okay...
I know nothing of the deep backstory for the Lord of the Rings.
I hear all these different names of what the characters are.
I didn't know the names of the other two Wizards, the Blues as they are referred to by Gandalf in 'the Hobbit'.
I think it is time for me to get into this stuff. Can anyone more knowledgeable about this stuff give me a good place to start at? I may be out of school, but I am gonna learn! '

Actually, Gandalf, as Olorin served IN Lorien, but spent most his time in the houses of Nienna, where he learned compassion and patience.
He also is known to be the wisest of all the maiar, (directly stated by Tolkien), wiser than even Melian, Ilmare, Osse or even Eonwe, whos know for fighting and finally killing Morgoth side to side with Tulkas and Turín Turambar in the Dagor Dagorath (Final Battle in Tolkiens Universe, could maybe compared to the Ragnarok of the norse myths)

If memory serves me correctly, the Balrogs are Maiar as well. All corrupted by Melkor, as Sauron was.
Also, the Valar Aule, is the creator of the Dwarves. Hidden from all the Valar, Aule's dwarves were the first mortal beings in the world, even before the Elves. When Iluvatar questioned his actions, Aule raised his hammer to smite his creations, but Eru showed mercy, and allowed Aule's creation to sleep, in wait for the Elves to roam the world, as Eru had intended the Elves to be the first.

Your facts are awesome, I really love reading theese. And for the next post, could you maybe do something on Sauron? Or perhaps the dwarves?

Just posting here cause i can: Gandalf was the strongest out of the five Istari (wizards) and the wisest. But he was also humble, and Galadriel and Elrond knew of his power but everyone else believed that Saruman was the strongest of the 5 wizards due to his power of speech and the metal work he could do.

TLR Gandalf is a bad ass ************
