DBZ sucks. There's a reason the majority of the internet hates it.

I have a lot of otaku friends who have watched a LOT of animes of various kinds (not just DBZ, Naruto and One Piece, animes with names so weeaboo I can't remember) and they say that based on the content, DBZ can't nearly be clasified as a "Great anime", of course they love DBZ but it's because of nostalgia and the element that it was a big part of their childhood, and not the actual content.

Couple things:
1) The "Legendary" super saiyan was actually Broly. The rest of the gang's super saiyan modes are pretty pathetic relative to Broly's - which is ******* brutal. No wonder Frieza was so afraid.

2) The children can go super saiyan easily because Saiyan genes crossbred with human genes create an even stronger race. Therefore they are naturally more powerful than saiyans like Goku, thus learn things like going super saiyan faster.

3) Gohan preferred not going super saiyan after his whole "mystic" phase and doing the training with the Elder. He was far more powerful than super saiyan afterwards. So they at least tried to balance it out and keep every saiyan from turning.

4) Super saiyan was still difficult throughout the series. The characters always talked about the strain it would put on their bodies, and they'd often revert back when tired or hurt. Even further, it was hard to achieve a balance during the transformation, as seen by Trunks as he fights Cell (and I think by Vegeta once). He gets extremely powerful, more powerful than normal super saiyan, but he gets so big and powerful he's too slow and out of control and his body wears out much faster.

5) Finally - "super saiyan" wasn't really at all. One could argue those are all steps up to the "proper" super saiyan, which is either the latest god mode deal or the fourth one with the half monkey transformation. The later was balanced by making the user go insane with power.

Studying for a calc exam really makes me enjoy every other possible conversation.

1. Brolly isn't considered canon as all of the movies are non canon, along with GT (after dragonball online was released)
Bardok (goku's father) is the actual legendary super saiyan when he traveled back in time and defended ancient planet tuffle from freiza's ancesters, he went SSJ to protect it, even though the saiyans there were

2. pretty much, allthough it's said that the super saiyan gene is too diluted on 1/4 saiyans, so they cant go SSJ. (allthough i dont think that's true canon anymore after GT was discounted.)

3. yup, gohan was a chump all along, (**** you saiya-man)

4. it was a strain, but it was easily combatable, gohan and goku spent like a week/month in SSJ 1 form in preperation for the Cell games, this made them pretty much normal but they just had suppressed SSJ powers.

though vageita and trunks were actualy going extended SSJ, wich is either SSJ 1.5 or SSJ2

5. i have no points against this, i somewhat agree, allthough i assume that SSJ 1- 2 and 3 are seperate from SSJ 4,
mostly because SSJ 4 is split from the transformation lines, as they have to control the ape form to achive it, so they could possibly grow to a higher level than just that.
but i don't think they go insane, they just go primal.

i too enjoy conversations like this.

GT is considered in part Canon, and Goku Jr, a 1/16th Saiyan went Super Saiyan.

Feel free to tell me wrong, I dont really mind, information is power, and if im wrong, im wrong.

The legendary Super Saiyan is Goku from the beginning. There's an episode in wich Vegeta says to Goku: "You can't be the legendary Super Saiyan!" and you can see Goku on a golden giant ape, and of what colour is the ape that Goku transforms before being SSJ4? Golden

Actually, Broly's "Legendary Super Saiyan" Form is a separate form in it's own right. The "Legendary" Super Saiyan, or more accurately, "Original" Super Saiyan was Bardock.

While Bardock was the First Super Saiyan, he was not a Legendary Super Saiyan. Broly is the Legendary Super Saiyan, Its like a branch off of the races main track of power progression, and not every saiyan can use it. Whereas Goku and Vegeta and every other saiyan, half saiyan, 1/16th saiyan (it exists) that can go super saiyan puts an enormous strain on the body during, after, etc. Whereas Broly going Legendary Super Saiyan seems to feel no strain. Also his power grows crazily while in the Legendary Super Saiyan state, while the Super Saiyans stabilizes at some point. Also Broly's hair turns a tint of green, and his pupils seem to disappear entirely.
Frieza however was wrong. What he believed the Legendary Super Saiyan was, was what Bardock was, an ordinary Super Saiyan, and while passed down the lines, may have been given the title of Legendary, seeing as how it only seemed to exist in Legends, which is why Frieza called it the Legendary Super Saiyan.
However, the Canonical existence of the movies themselves can be argued to some extent so it could be said that Legendary Super Saiyan didn't exist.

I thought that the children were stronger because they basically had the averaged power level of their parents, which, for the most part, was a killer number from a saiyan and a number like 1 from the human, which basically halfs the saiyan power level in the kid, resulting still in a hug ******* number. It explains why Gohan isn't as naturally powerful as Goten. Just my guess though.

I have a theory that their power became more contained as they continued to refine their techniques. Like the fact that they kept getting stronger and yet the scenery became less affected by their attacks around them. Their power was still immensely stronger than it used to be, but they had such control that the damage occured over a smaller area. That or Toriyama didn't bother remembering such little details in the show.

Well that was purposely meant to destroy the planet, but I understand what you mean. I was talking about attacks directed towards people on the ground. Seeing as how if Vegeta aimed just a bit lower with his final flash against Cell, it's implied that Earth would be destroyed. Bby the end of the show they are probably triple the strength of that so their attacks would easily have the power to make Earth go boom.

Apparently, the reason the Earth and Cell didn't vaporize after Vegeta's Final Flash (according to Piccolo) was because Vegeta curved the beam upwards, saving the Earth.I bet they pull that trick (pun intended) all the time.

As for naruto i cba with that ****, same with one piece even though I think that has potential to be good. I can't watch any more shounen battle type animes, in large doses anyway.

If something that actually suited my tastes came out then I would love 300+ episodes but that isn't the case for animes like this and that.

Yeah I know what you mean I watched Bleah, Naruto and Fairy Tail (only that is weekly one episode and I started at episode 3 or 4 so that's not a problem) and started watching One Piece a while ago and just couldn't care for it. After a while of watching people beating each other it becomes boring and you start watching anime more focused on getting somewhere with the plot.
