Come on, just because we like something a bit violent doesn't mean we can't be civilized about it.

Pantera - Pre-Hibernation

We need a song for this Spongebob episode, something brutal.

How about we get Pantera to do something?

*Long pause* Make it happen.

This is the reason I love Russians. For the ridiculous Brutal Death metal they can make. I haven't witness any other country make music as or more savage and neanderthal like.

Extermination Dismemberment - Serial Urbicide - Example.

Most Metal guys will absolutely hate it. Since most of the Metal community hates Slam. But for me, it's just a really fun genre to listen to. Since it's primary aim is to make heavy, brutal music and Slams. Slams are a type of riffing and breakdown, that has grooves (Kinda like chug chug, but more grooves), that first appeared in Suffocations album Effigy of the forgotten. Then you had bands like Devourment that took those type of breakdowns and riffing and incorporated it into the music, more so that Suffocation.

For the first slam riff-

Suffocation - Liege Of Inveracity 2:53 of this song.

Personally, I prefer melo-doom/death metal
Insomnium - In The Groves of Death
but I sometimes listen to black metal that my friend introduced me to

Yeah I like Doom and Black Metal too. I had a massive phase of just listening to Doom once. Just finding so many bands to listen too. Same with Black Metal. Though I prefer high quality Black Metal, as in bands that put an effort to the production and song writing. That's why I do like Post Metal mixed with Black Metal, such as Alcest. But I still dig some BM bands with low production. Makes it more eery with some bands.

I tend to stick with what I find. But there are times where a cover leads me to an amazing band. I found Xanthochroid through their cover of Land of Snow and Sorrow from Wintersun. I really like the song Incultus from Xanth, and Time I is an amazing album from Wintersun. Was worth waiting for 4 years

Yeah that cover is pretty good. Not really into Folk, but I dig that.

More into Brutal Death Metal really

For black metal i'm more into Immortal etc.

If you like your Death/Doom I suggest you listen to Wormphlegm.
Here's a 30 minutes track of the most intense Doom i've ever listened to.

Noumena comes to mind with the vocals
www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoVCnCze64M

Funeralium reminds me of Swallow the Sun
www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPLHGlE8oek

If I remember, Wintersun started off with just the vocalist/guitarist and a drummer. It was originally a side project, since the vocalist was also in Ensiferum. Got real popular real quick

www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsjHvaU5Aik
Omnium Gatherum is a really good band
#101 to #98 - chudboy (07/05/2013) [-]
Yeah I guess Swallow The Sun was a big influence really. Swallow the sun is another great band! The bands I listed are "Funeral Doom", may sound silly, but they have more of a death metal influence to the vocals, and their music has a slower "funeral" like pace.
User avatar #103 to #101 - savirleo ONLINE (07/05/2013) [-]
I tend to enjoy the songs that tell a story, like Plague of Butterflies, or the Blessed He with Boils album. Otherwise, it's mainly Insomnium, StS, Vader, Xanthochroid and Wintersun

Lyrical isn't really important to me. As long as the music is good, get's me nodding my head, and at times gives me goosebumps I'm all good. Like Alcest, his lyrical content is on an imaginary world he dreamt up when he was younger. Plus it's in french, so I have no idea what he's saying. But the music he produces just gives me goosebumps, and this nostalgic feeling. Feels good. I'd recommend.
