You guys realize that the local news outlets also scoop their stories from the mainstream media, don't you? They can't afford to send people to Iraq, Afghanistan...etc. They also don't have a big enough staff to report independently on all the major stories. I bet they mean well, but unintentionally take part in spreading the propaganda.

That's why I get articles from multiple sources..... Don't stick to one exclusively. Get other sides. Always.

I would like to pose a question to all those 'informed' funny junkers that knew this SO far ahead of time.

If, in fact, this was common knowledge to you and the circles you run with, why is it you did nothing? I mean if there was blatant lies being thrown around, and you are so morally strong, why have i not seen any rallies? Any protests to demand a stop to the lies? Not even one nut job conspiracy militant group has attempted a coup of the US government. Why, if this is such a serious problem and half of the US already knew about it, was no action taken?

Well, my parents always told me I was lacking info on current events since I never watch the news. Better to have no knowledge of it than having false knowledge.

Disagree. Go read a variety of news sources. Sure, you can never be sure what you get is correct but you can be damn sure you will closer to the truth than simply reading nothing or just one source. Some of my favourites that you may wish to consider include: www.smh.com.au/, www.independent.co.uk/, [url deleted] [url deleted] [url deleted] [url deleted] [url deleted]

Disclaimer: I am Australian and definitely left/libertarian leaning. Also, I have only just started reading the newyorker so I can't really strongly comment on its validity, however it seems to be mainly informed commentary, which is enjoyable on some levels

I'm curious as to how this goes from talking about CNN to throwing Fox in there as well. They're ALL probably doing it (Like the phone companies giving up phone records) but if any one of them would not be going along with this it would be Fox, simply because they tend to be against big government policy.

Regardless, this is REALLY bad. The press is supposed to be free and independent of the government. They're supposed to be critical and scrutinize everything the government does to hold them accountable. Instead they're lapdogs.

really... despite no mention of the network or its pundits in the original article you just had to wedge in a jab at fox news, you're being just as manipulative as the media you condemn

Anyone that even paid some what attention should already know this. IT's the reason I don't watch the new, they're always lying to you. I'm just glad someone on the inside finally said "Yeah, they do." That why the stupid people can't argue.
