****** is worse. Cracker was the term the slaves used for the guy with the whip as he would crack it on their asses for acting up.

It was actually a term for white people given by white people. Irish and Scottish in the early Americans colonies were generally indentured servants or children of indentured servants and looked down upon. There is a theory that it did eventually move on to be the term for white people because of overseers cracking whips, and another theory that it comes from cowboys cracking whips at cattle. It's never easy tot ell the origin of words because language changes over time and there's no committee set up that decides. It just evolves.

Yes. I find it irritating that other people can be offended when a racial slur is used, but I can't be. I'm more angry at the double standard than at the word though.

Because the words, "That offends me" Have become the best way to gain power over another person. If you really want to exert your power over another person, find something that they're saying that could be taken out of context or twisted into a slur and mention that it offends you. You'll have them eating out of your hand, when in reality there is no real reason for them to care, especially if they meant no offense.

It's the same thing that happens when you try and put limits on a conversation by saying things like, "We don't have time for a meeting of the flat earthers." You automatically own the high moral and intellectual ground based on a single sentence, and if you attempt to oppose this sentence you automatically become an opposer of the common sense.

I'm just saying that if you want power over someone, then either call them out by saying that they're offending you, or limit the conversation in such a way that they can't argue a point efficiently.

That's not even my point. Let's pretend that everyone on earth is green, and there are no racial slurs. There would still be ways to twist another person's words around and make them sound offensive. The person who is best a twisting another persons words will win more.

The double standard exists. Both are derogatory to a certain race. Both should never be used, yet one will get you accused of a hate crime, and one will be completely passed off. That is what is irritating.

It's pretty easy to just not say ****** to a black man, and it obviously offends a lot of them and for good reason. There's history behind it, and although racism isn't as common now, some people do still use the word in a derogatory way.

I'm not offended at all when black people say "cracker", but when they use it in anger they're clearly hoping it has the same effect as "the N word". I could care less, but the people defending Trayvon Martin calling Zimmerman "cracker" before punching him in the face, by saying "it's part of his culture to say it" are full of ****. Paula Deen used the same exact defense of her "N word" usage and now the same people who crucified her for it are defending Trayvon with the same exact words.

cracker is derived from the term "whip cracker" It comes from the days of black slavery where the white owner would crack his whip at his black slaves. Basically ****** and cracker come from the same time area and both refer to the person in a worse (or better depending on your personal opinion) which is why honestly, i think if a black guy calls a white guy a cracker, then the black guy is allowed to be called a ******.

****** refers to a black slave and since there are no longer any black slaves it is not a word that should be used unless referring to the word itself. If a white person uses the word "******" while referring to a black person they are mistaken because unless that black person is a slave then they are not a ******. If a black person uses the word "******" then they are just keeping the word alive and should stop using it and allow it to die.
Cracker - Originally the white slave driver because he would "crack" the whip, hence the noun cracker.
When a black person calls a white person a "cracker" they are only demeaning themselves because they are insinuating that there are still "*******" if there are no ******* then there are no crackers.

When you call someone a bitch it is offensive because you are calling them a female dog. When you call someone a ****** it is offensive because you are calling them a slave. When you call someone a cracker it is not offensive because you are calling them a slave master.

"The origin of the word "******" is in the Latin "niger," meaning "black.""
It's just the same as "retarded" becoming "mentally handicapped" even though retarded just means that it's "occurring or developing later than desired or expected."

We brought the whole double standards thing on with all that slave trade jazz in the 1800s. Coloured folks are never going to be the same as whites now. Not that they aren't human, not that they don't deserve the same treatment as any ethnicity. The people of white skin colour have just never had to experience anything that horrific. That's always going to be a playing card in their deck that saves the game.

These people just went ahead on with their debate and no one bats an eyelid to the fact that Cracker is just Cracker and ****** is 'The N Word'.
