Seeing as I got my cast taken away almost a year ago, this post angers me. It is so itchy!

This doesn't look capable of immobilising the wrist, nor is it made of a sufficiently durable material so it would be essentially useless. Add in the fact that positioning the lower arm to be scanned would likely disturb the fracture and cause more pain and that printing it would take far too long and you have a useless, expensive, overcomplex replacement for something that doesn't need replacing.

As it is 3D printed it is some variety of polymer. But that is a moot point, a 3D ptinted object that fine would be fragile reguardless of the material used due to the way it is created.

When built up as layers you are creating natural faults (areas where it is easier to separate the layers), as i said the material used is a moot point, the structure itself would be physically weak.

i dont think people who havnt had a cast understand how one is put on.

Its kind of like a roll of really wide tape, made of fiberglass, that you wrap around a broken limb and it solidifies really fast.

From the looks of that, every cast would have to be custom made rather than formed from a single tape like role
