I asked my father what Snowden did; he said that he leaked top secret information that the government is spying, not on citizens, but on forigners within the country, which is perfectly legal.
#196 to #184 - swagbot (06/30/2013) [-]
You Dad knows that for a fact?

Nah. It's his ******* OPINION about verifiable facts. And he's ******* wrong.

Read and learn.

Did you forget that the FBI/CIA has not presented proof that a SINGLE terrorist plot has been stopped with their Dragnet surveillance yet?

Grow up man. Most of our parents are cowards who are unafraid to face the issues that are bearing down on our country. That's not the kind of person you should adopt your political news/views from.

my question to anyone who gives a **** about the government 's wiretapping is: what do you have to hide? what are you doing on the internet or who are you calling that you don't want the government to know about. let's face it, the government doesn't have time to penalize everyone who pirates or every minor who watches porn, so what the **** are you doing that you want to keep so private?
#266 to #245 - happyfucktime (06/30/2013) [-]
I think people have a problem with the government spying on us because its against the law...
User avatar #287 to #266 - thempc (06/30/2013) [-]
well once i start coordinating terrorist plots over the phone and internet then i'll start giving a ****
#299 to #287 - happyfucktime (06/30/2013) [-]
good for you? as far as I know people have a right to be upset about something like this, if you don't care about your privacy then I don't understand why you're bitching

Now I'm not saying you are wrong here, but your article seems a tad out of date. Now if I'm wrong, correct me. Then there's this: www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-06-27/nsa-s-alexander-says-secret-programs-stopped-terror-plots.html

Thanks for the article, but let's approach it with the appropriate amount of skepticism. After all, this is the guy whose job/reputation is on the line.

To him, I'd say 'Details of the plots or GTFO'... and we're still a-waitin' for those details...

...but let me guess, they won't be able to divulge the details of any case because 'it may damage the integrity of other operations currently in progress'.

It all sounds like they've got the whole country wound up into a frenzy of jumping at shadows and believing in boogeyman **** to me. inb4 9/11: I'll discuss that if you really want, but be prepared to go way down the rabbit hole.
#360 to #350 - muscularsystem (07/02/2013) [-]
It's good to approach everything with some degree of skepticism, which is why I look into the date of your article. While yes his job is on the line, there is a grain of truth in it. "If a random citizen can know the details of their plans, what's to stop someone who knows what they're doing from using that against us in the future?" is probably their thinking. If you're so desperate for details, you have two options: Become a part of the nsa, or see the public testimony here: You need to login to view this link Be warned, it's 3 hours.

Go home man. Most of the people on the internet are making up issues they say are bearing down on our country. Not the kind of people you should adopt your political news/views from.

You talk like you are being completely unbiased but then you link a ridiculously biased article

I am 19, currently enrolled in a University fifteen minutes from my father's house.
My father is a Lieutenant Colonel who works in Northcom, so I figured his view on the Snowden case is valid.
#190 to #184 - jowan (06/30/2013) [-]
That's what they said in the beginning, but after some time they proved they were also spying on US citizens...that's what I read at least
User avatar #227 to #184 - appleboom (06/30/2013) [-]
You're not wrong. Ignore the red thumbs. It's just iffy where they drew the line, but that isn't an unreasonable statement.
#269 to #227 - DrollHumor (06/30/2013) [-]
Well my father is a Lieutenant Colonel who works in Northcom, so I trust his word over the schoolyard law that is FJ.
#140 - Womens Study Major (06/30/2013) [-]
I really don't see the problem, we know the government has been monitoring us for YEARS. Since before the inception of the internet it was suspected that they spied on us. Whatever, i remain a anonymous amongst three million other Americans. Sure what he did is morally responsible, but what he found we kinda already suspected to be true.

TLDR; we kinda suspected the government spied on us, whatever.
User avatar #154 to #140 - mymiddleleg (06/30/2013) [-]
But now our suspicions have been confirmed
#202 to #154 - swagbot (06/30/2013) [-]
Wrong. To anyone who had been paying attention, this has been common knowledge since the 1980s.
