I don't know about the rest of you, but my parents almost never hit me. They managed to, get this, raise their three kids with words, not violence.

My little cousin is four years younger than I am. She'd become quite the absolute brat in the past couple years. The "Starbucks in one hand, iPhone in the other, shorts that shouldn't qualify as clothing, I'm better than you" type. At Christmas when she was 13, she got a Macbook Air, and looked at her parents and said (word for word) "We're taking this back and getting a Pro. The Air is so ****** . Now I can't even enjoy my Christmas." Not even an attempt at a "thank you".
She also started being less and less of a decent cousin to me. One day my other cousin and I were talking and she came up and started trashing us both, calling us losers with no lives who would never amount to anything etc. She was in grade 8, just about to go into grade 9, and I was about to graduate high school. I looked her dead in the eyes with the coldest look I could and said "If you keep up your bitchy little ways and talk to the grade 12s in your school the way you just talked to me, you will be thrown, not just put, thrown into a locker and locked there. And when you come home crying about how the people you think you're better than are bigger than you, I will give you no sympathy, I will laugh and laugh because your bratty ass got what it deserved."
And she went kind of pale and looked more and more scared as she thought about it, then looked down and muttered a "sorry" and ran out of the room.

I would blame the parent more then the kid because it would be there fault for spoiling them at a young age and that just the way they grew up. Not saying that ok to act like that but i would put most of the blame on the parents.

Many parents these days just give in too quickly to a whining child.
If you teach them that whining works, they're going to keep doing it.

Let me tell you about how awesome my parents were. I used to cry a lot when I was little and was picked on a lot about it. So, what did they do? They started picking on me at home. I was practically tortured 24/7 for 4 years because they wanted to teach me to talk back to the people who picked on me and insulted them so hard that they were the ones crying. Thanks for turning me into a cynical **** , mom and dad. Really apretiate it.

When you guys become parents, be calm and chill about almost everything your kids do, but when it comes down to it, just be silent, look disappointed and look at them with shame.

That's what my father used to do, and I felt terrible... like an ****** caught in a spotlight with a TV that I stole from my own family.

The only person I fear on this earth is my mother. She could put the fear of God into an atheist.

i feel you, some of my friends are horrible to their parents. if i ever spoke to my mum or dad like that i would probably be disowned.

My parents never hit me as a child (nor lightly ******* me) but I think that if I called my mother a bitch when I was younger I'd have gotten a slap.
But even the way my younger sister argues back to my parents sometimes has me in awe, I'd have never gotten away with that sort of thing at her age.
