honestly. who gives a **** if they lie about how many women are being raped. one woman being raped is one too many. what difference does it make to you if it's actually 500 and they say 50,000. that's still 500 more than there should be.

besides. none of this gets at the heart of how to end the rape of females in our culture. people have got to stop focusing on females being able to protect themselves (because they physically cant in the vast majority of cases), and start putting the emphasis of the anti-rape movement on educating men as to what rape is, why men rape women, how they get to that point, and how they can (yes, it's possible) unintentionally rape a girl/woman. personally, i'd rather hold my nut than cause any kind of psychological distress to anyone. it's just a goddam nut. like it'll never happen again.

TLR: this is ******** , the feminism movement is ******** , rape is ******** , it's all ******** .

Rape culture isn't ******** . Most of these "feminists" are hated by actually feminists because they hurt all civil causes. Rape culture isn't just about rape, it's about how people (men and women) continue to make bodies objects and possessions and not human beings.
Bring on the red thumbs.

Wow. And here we`d gone three whole days without anti-feminist posts on the front page.

C-C-C-Combo breaker?

No OP, 1 in 4 women will be sexually assaulted in their lives. 1 in 6 will be raped.

www.rainn.org/get-information/statistics/sexual-assault-victims

Also, you only used examples of 3 colleges, and high end ones at that. If you'd actually put some effort into your statistics, such as using more colleges and different standards of colleges, you'd get very different results.

Catcalling is a verbal assault. It's not a compliment to leer at a woman you've never met and creepily tell her how much you want to have sex with her. Of course it's not nearly as bad as (legitimate) rape, but it's still awkward and creepy as **** . I know a lot of guys mean it as a compliment, but it almost never comes out that way.

A lot of rapes don't actually get reported... so those statistics are probably off

A lot of reported rapes didn't actually happen... so yeah, stats are off. But not to the degree that 1 in 4 would be even remotely viable

Yes, rape happens, and yes, many women do not report it, but where are the statistics for male rape (not prison time **** , I mean men being sexually assaulted by women). Men can be raped, and that fact gets passed over many times in this whole debacle over rape victims and cases. Just because the majority of rapes happen to women doesn't mean a woman can't drug a man, abduct him, bind him, and rape him.

tl; dr: the rape train goes two ways, lads and lasses.

I go to Duquesne, for those of you that don't know, all these schools are literally down the street from each other. I know for a fact at Pitt those rapes happened at a Frat house. and a few of these were serial rapists...just adding to the rape culture ********

Raped BY THE TIME they go to college.
Not while IN college (which is what you reported).
So during their college years, that many was reported. Leads me to point 2.
Secondly, not all rapes go reported.
Thirdly, the number of women being molested is even higher, 1 in 3 I hear. 1 in 3 females are molested by the time they reach the age of 22 (or somewhere in late teens/early twenties).
Most of it is unreported though.
This post makes me sick.
I don't mind jokes about women, but this is wrong and actually trying to play it off as fact, and that's not cool.

Very few rapes are actually reported, ****** . There is a reason Facebook might not allow **** like this post. Wake the **** up

Its 20x more funny because Carnegie Melon is full of Indian men

A lot of raped are not reported but a lot of reported ones are also a false accusation. Unreported ones are probably higher but the statistic is still probably not that far off
+1

Unfortunately many, if not most, people don't do their research to support their claim.
#267 - kittenslayerr (06/13/2013) [-]
But I think they're saying in their lifetime, not who was raped in college. The stats arent clear about the reported assaults- when they happened.
I agree 1 in 4 is a lot, but this does not reaally prove anything either except the amount of girls assaulted in college. 3 colleges.

Need more info OP

Statistics like this are useless anyway.

You can't say 1 in 4 women *will* be raped.

There could be an area where rape is extremely high which causes a statistical anomaly. That would completely skew the results.

Also as a sidenote, that 1 in 4 number isn't even about rape, it's about sexual harassment. Those are two completely different things.
Sexual harassment includes shouting "hey sexy" or even looking at a woman's breasts. This is not rape and pretending it is is just ******* stupid.
User avatar #234 - KayRed (06/13/2013) [+] (1 reply)
Yeah, but at Penn State, every girl gets raped two or three times, so that's why we got 1 in 4, and that's not including the kids.
User avatar #212 - vedgetable (06/13/2013) [+] (2 replies)
to them rape is when i guy has sex with them and they later regret it.

1 in 4?

Wow, I really need to step up my work.
User avatar #178 - Ruspanic (06/13/2013) [-]
Okay so the 1 in 4 stat is obviously complete ******** unless you define rape extremely loosely as some extreme feminists do (like verbal sexual harassment or something), but I just don't understand why you only used three universities in your counterstatistic.
