All of this fighting between the Xbox One, PS4, and PC gaming when the real superior console is the 3DS. Play your games anywhere you want. Toilet, waiting room, subway, bus, school, even get some fresh air at the park. Portable gaming > console gaming.

What happens if there is a storm and you're power is off for longer than a day? What happens then? What does the XBox do if it doesn't connect to the internet for more than 24hrs? That is what I would like to know.

Obviously we are just speculating but, I wouldn't be able to play at all if my internet was down?

If you're X1 can't connect to the internet at least once every 24 hours (likely long enough for it to check your system), then it apparently locks you out of your games (and probably applications as well) regardless if they are single or multiplayer until you manage connect again.

If you're power is out for more than a day you can't even play your Xbox anyway.

So what if my internet is just out? I want to know if it would "lock" you out of everything or if it would let you continue life.

well if you're rich enough to afford the xbox one, then you should be rich enough to have internet
i'm poor and i still don't bitch about it needed to be connected to the internet 24/7
all of my friends have internet connection so even if i take my xbox one to their houses, i will be able to use it
but i know they'll have one too, so there's no point in moving an xbox
i understand some people don't have internet at all, but come on, we're in the 21st century, everything new depends on a wifi connection
and as i said, i'm poor and i have internet, so there's really no excuse
get a job if you can't afford it or get the cheap plan

Really? So what do you say to my friend Ben? He has enough money for an Xbox, and broadband, but the village he lives in still only has dial up. If they wanted broadband, they would have to pay for the line themself.

And whilst he can afford an Xbox, I don't think he can afford the £10s of £1000's of pounds of laying about 5 miles of cable for himself

Sometimes due to where you live you simply CANNOT have internet, or what you have is incredibly limited by speed and bandwidth limits. And yes, this even applies to the US. You XboxOne supporters sure are an ignorant bunch, aren't ya?

i have my doubts, i mean Microsoft can harp on til the cows come home about a "better gaming experience" for the reason they are putting all this red tape up but one nobody is forcing them to and two they are just shooting themselves in the foot because Sony is offering a more consumer friendly device for $100 less. from a business standpoint microsoft is not making good decisions.

You do all realize that having it connected 24/7 is a rumor, right?

You realise they confirmed just about every rumour right?
E3 is a pretty big thing, I'm sure you've at least heard of that.
The only rumour I heard that MS didn't turn around and say is true was the one about not being able to turn off the Kinect.

I should probably clarify quickly that you don't need it online "24/7", but you need to "check in" at least once a day or it refuses to work.

No I haven't heard of E3, what is it. Also they say that it needs to be online when it is on so for morons like you that don't like to do real things I guess that means that you will have to be online at all times. Also it just takes some common sense to realize that being connected to the internet at all times is impossible for everyone everywhere so they clearly would not build such a terrible feature in. Idiots....

You're right on that one. You have to check in periodically online. If you don't your xbox will stop working in 24 hours.

I really don't think the xbox one is as terrible as it is being made out to. That said, I DO think that microsoft is ******* itself in the face with it's marketing. the whole always on "deal with it" comment, and now this.

What sony really did better than microsoft was the way they revealed all the changes. Where sony didn't make a big deal of negatively precieved changes such as the monthly fee, Microsoft is making it seem like it's the selling point of the system "It will have to have an almost constant connection isnt that cool!!?!?!".

Microsoft are kind of acting like Sam and Amy. "No, our console isn't bad, you just didn't know that you wanted 24/7 internet connection, now stop bullying us".
