It's actually natural to be racist, it's considered very common in nature that animals feel threatened by/are afraid of any animal that looks different to them. Sure, as advanced species we can learn to accept other races and be civilised. But what goes on in our heads remains focused on the negative attributes of a race different from our own. This is just my opinion from what I think sounds logical.

Conclusion: We're all racist to some degree, it's just nature.

My dad had this joke to make things at parties awkward, "Okay, I swear to you, I'm not racist. I swear to God, I'm not racist. How does every racist joke start?" He would then flee from the party.

You can tell when someone has at least a slightly racist ideology either by how unashamed they are to show it, or how ashamed they are to show it.

That's why I hate when I'm all like, "Oh, I was just talking to that black man over ther-"
"That's racist"

No sir, it is not racism to recognize someone's differences, it is racist to act like those differences put someone at a lesser value than others

That's why when someone is really worried about others perceiving something they say as racist, you know that something about that race's differences scares them. When someone truly accepts someone for how they are, they aren't afraid of anyone picking up on their prejudices, because they don't exist.

That's why education is the greatest driving force to promote equality, people fear the unknown, and fear creates rejection
