Life in and of itself is a neutral. It's what you do with the life you're given that decides whether or not it's worthwhile.

Sometimes I contemplate suicide.

But then I remember that I'm not some depressive emo kid and I go browse funnyjunk instead.

I'm here to laugh, not to contemplate the validity of my own existence! I've got real life to force those existential crises onto me so make with the topical humour.

Yeah, except death would get rid of the crippling agony that you feel every second of every day and bring forth a welcome nothingness that would be the closest thing to peace you can possibly achieve. But no, you live on. The pain slowly eats away at your resolve and capacity for joy and you wither into a bitter unlovable apparition like a rose that is pulverized by unyielding sunlight without the reprieve of water or at least shade. You grow more and more weary from the unyielding agony as time progresses, but the human tendency towards hope -the most cursed emotion in existence- combined with your innate drive to survive prolongs the inevitable. Your subconscious urges you to believe that there is some fraction of a chance that things will get better for you, that if you just wait and hold out through the pain you will find something that will have made all your suffering worthwhile. Eventually, this too fades, and you are left to analyze your situation through logic alone. Your scrape your mind for scenarios that could lead to your happiness and you genuinely cannot find for yourself a single one. It is then that you must decide for yourself whether or not you will endure a life that will certainly never provide you with any joy. You would linger on until the pain becomes so unbearable that you no longer feel it. You would watch from a distance nations rise and fall and technologies appear and then become obsolete. You become nothing more than a hollow shell, incapable of feeling any strong emotions in either the positive or negative spectrum. You develop one final hope: that there will be no afterlife, that death will truly bring the end of your misery. You are left only to make the most important choice of your wretched existence- will you wait for death on a mere whim, or will you bring it to you? As someone in his 20s who has suffered since childhood and has chosen the former I can tell you that these are the phases of untreated depression.

Tl:dr know pain
