I was always stupid and only ever leveled up my starter. And I always pick the fire type so brock and misty's gyms were just a nightmare. I don't do that anymore, I learned from my mistakes.

Didn't that dude who just hung around in the gym tell you the leader's type preference?

I mean, **** , if I as a seven year old figured it out, it couldn't have been that difficult...

Champ in the Making Guy offered advice, but he wouldn't list every weakness, just 1 or 2 that were strong and 1 or 2 that were weak.

Except Giovanni.... but if you can't figure out how to fight ground types that you've already fought before the Elite 4, there is no helping you.

I just caught 6 pokemon that I loved and raised them up. I may have lost a few times during my journeys but it made the victories that much sweeter, like beating Brock for the first time on yellow after leveling a Pikachu and a Caterpie up high enough

Interesting story. When I first got yellow, way back when it was new, I couldn't figure out how to get out of Viridian Forest. I thought the exit was a dead end, and never bothered walking up to it. All I did for days on end was kill Caterpie with my Pikachu. I don't remember what level I got to, but my brother eventually figured out how to get out. The rest of the game was easy, thanks to my grossly over leveled rat. I quick attacked Brock into submission, since I knew electric wouldn't work from the T.V. show.

What about the fact that there's a billion trainers in each gym with the same type?

or you could just ask the guy in front of the entrance who would just tell you the gym leader's type and weakness....except for the viridian city gym

its ongoing right now and so far its pretty good. it has some awesome fight/ purging scenes but it also is comedic and lighthearted. imagine it as a post apocalyptic slice of life (maybe romcom) with cool action scenes at least once an episode. so i would say yes to people watching it

It also didn't help when they released official trainer guides with pokemon that didn't even exist in the game, i spent literally hundreds of wasted hours looking for this ****** ...did they ever actually create it?

I figured out every pokemons weakness by playing the trading cards and memorizing the 1st gens from a poster I bought.

I find it hard to believe people couldn't figure it out on their own. What do you think the NPC's are for?

"Misty uses WATER-TYPE POKEMON. You're going to be soaked if you don't have a GRASS or ELECTRIC-TYPE POKEMON."

Then they mill about on the same five squares for the next couple of decades.

Me and my friend had Pokemon. I had Yellow, and he had Red. We were pretty bad at reading, especially reading English, so we often skipped dialog and just trained our Pokemon. So inevitably we got stuck in the game due to the lack of knowledge of HM's. So we where stuck in the beginning of the game for a long time. We probably had Pokemon in lvl 40 or 50 before my friend found out how to cut down the tree in front of Lt.Surges gym. The game was pretty set from there on.

I once beat all the gym leaders in Emerald with a Mighteyena, a Swellow, and a non-battling HM slave or two.
Pokemon really isn't very difficult.

Before the internet, there was only one way you could get movies. The DVD or Video Tape store. They had a limited amount of movies you could watch, So when you wanted to watch something, You had to be lucky that the movie was in their stock. Furthermore These movie rental shops did not include a mail system, So you not only had to drive all the way to the store to pick up the movie, but also when you were done watching, you had to drive all the way back.

Another frightful aspect of this was that you had to return the movie in an amount of time, some times ranging over to only three days. This ment that you had to plan your days carefully, and pray to God that nothing comes up like your boss sending you to overtime.

Further more, you also had to take account of your friends, incase you decided to watch a movie with your friends. So not only did You have to have free time, But also hoped that your friends were avalible at the time, which in some cases, they never were. Finally you could not look up to see if this movie was infact any good, So if you rented "Queen of Blood" off the rack without hearing about it, You would be dooming your friends to total and utter ********* of an ungodly bad movie.
