My xbox broke awhile back. Not the red ring of death but something else was broken (i forget. something about not being able to produce a picture). Anyways after calling microsoft they told me that I would have to pay 100 dollars. Seeing as I didn't have that money I tried the towel trick. It worked for about 4 hours and then I got the red ring of death. Which sounds bad but when I called up microsoft again and told them i got the ring they said that my warranty covered that and I got it fixed for free. Sometimes the towel trick works.

About the towel trick.

My XboX kept freezing and stopped turning on. I did some research, and decided, what the hell, it's shot anyway, why not give it a try.
It only worked temporarily. The first time it lasted a few days before freezing again. I finally gave up when it got down to a matter of minutes before freezing.

I extended my Xbox's life by about a month doing this.

If you guys like these myths and are too lazy to do any research yourselves. Check out this guy's little YouTube series that he did awhile back.

Stop 'N' Swap? That's cute.

P.S. If you don't know what this post is referring to, please restart your childhood and play the correct path that would end up with you enjoying the fantastic Monster Rancher series.

the towel actually works. it just heats the solder on the wires and moves them back in to place

There are other stuff in the system that are plastic and will melt faster than the solder.

The RROD is a general failure, and it not always caused from the same issues.

I spent all my life ******** myself about stop n'swap, wanting to get both banjo games and seeing what happens.
Then I learn they just put it all in the second game and it gives you nothing that awesome. Then the xbox sequel sucked and I gave up on that game ever since.
MFW nuts and bolts sucked.

I don't know if this really works or not, but if you have enough money--it's worth a try.

My step-brother--who is a bit of a showoff-- got a Red Ring Of Death on his X-box, so he went to the store to buy another one. Now, his X-box was in good condition besides it not working, so he packaged up his old broken X-box and kept the new one, returned the other one with receipt that showed how long ago he purchased it, and left the store with his refund.

Like I said, I have no idea if this really worked or not, but it's worth a try...?

people need to thumb this up, this is wasted effort if it doesn't even make it to the front page and I hate to see that happen
