What is dressing field game? What is self defense?
User avatar #52 to #26 - motherfuckingkenji ONLINE (05/08/2013) [-]
Well dressing field game is finding a deer or something and putting a shirt on it. Obviously the most difficult part of this is finding enough albino pineapples to juggle whilst doing so, so you can probably figure out how a sharper knife can help achieve this. You need about 3.14 of these to make this procedure work.
Self defence is when you need to either keep people in or out of an area but you have no one to help you do this, so you have to set up da fence by yourself. Sometimes this leads to stray welshmen, but of course you can use your extra-sharp knife to cut up some bananas to lure them back to their natural habitat.
I hope this helps.

Well in close defense situations it's pretty much a pain in the ass to try and pull out your gun so a knife would be best. You might not be able to get a stab in (which is the preferred way to put down an enemy) so a slash must be used and the serrations and sharpness help tear apart flesh. Kinda hard to mug someone when your forearm has been slices open. This knife isn't really for field dressing(hell the warranty says it's not even for utility like box cutting) but a sharper knife would be better for dressing game. A sharp knife is a more efficient knife and much more safe.

And does it really matter what someone uses for defense? If they wanna use a pillow then let them.

Brute force like fist fights? Well not everyone is a MMA fighter. The knife really isn't practical. It's specifically designed for knife fighting and the warranty doesn't cover it being used for practical things. It's tacticool crap that costs a lot and I prefer a regular knives.

Its literally a disposable defense knife, though.
No serrated blade like that is meant for longterm use, as it its shape and the small serrations make it far more than a bit of a pain in the ass to sharpen, and even though it will certainly do more tissue damage than a straight single-edge will do per slash, a single straight-edge knife will last 50 times longer to keep doing its damage.
User avatar #105 to #56 - psykobear (05/08/2013) [-]
Disposable for $160 +? (someone in the comments priced it)
I don't see why I got so many red thumbs. We were just having a conversation. There was no argument.
User avatar #150 to #105 - shikurukato (05/10/2013) [-]
That was the point, for 160 bucks you get a serrated disposable defense knife, because the damn thing isnt going to last much longer than a few fights, whereas a straight-edge blade would last so very much longer for a hundred bucks more.
User avatar #151 to #150 - psykobear (05/10/2013) [-]
But we are on different levels. I'm saying that $160 is way too much to ever pay for a knife, even a good quality one.
User avatar #152 to #151 - shikurukato (05/11/2013) [-]
Then I submit to you that you have no business with a knife of quality, at all, anyway.

Even in everyday life, there is always a time a good knife would come in handy, be it for you or for someone around you. I work in retail, so that is especially true for me.
User avatar #153 to #152 - psykobear (05/11/2013) [-]
I use a pocket knife. I work in a deli, and in the cooler, you don't always have a box cutter on you. This one we are talking about isn't necessary. I have a simple pocket knife, carbon steel, three blades, $20.
I'm not saying a knife isn't necessary, I'm saying this knife is not necessary, or anyone coming close to that price.
User avatar #154 to #153 - shikurukato (05/14/2013) [-]
Again, if it doesnt seem like theres a need for it to you, then you probably don't have need for it.

That said, the same is not true for everyone. I'm pretty sure a 101st Airborne Ranger would be a little unhappy without at least one of his knives on him when deployed. I don't mean to imply it is at that level that such a knife would be necessary and nothing below, but you see my point, I hope.

Their warranty will cover normal use. if this is damage caused during normal use then take it back and they will replace it. HOWEVER, having studied engineering I'll tell you now that the damage in this photo is indicative of a torsion stress failure. The missing piece is also a sign of sheer failure. go on, be honest,,,,, you were using this as a screw driver weren't you?
#30 to #24 - LocoJoe (05/08/2013) [-]
Just some random pic. I don't like CS since their tang on the machetes is crappy.
#34 to #30 - freenarative (05/08/2013) [-]
I see an undamaged cutting edge and scratches starting half way up the side of the blade. so either these are mis strikes and the owner needs to learn how to use a blade or he has been using a KNIFE like it is a HAMMER and he needs to learn how to use a blade. Either way they need to learn how to use a blade.IMHO. I could be wrong. But to quote Grissom from CSI "the evidence speaks loudly and cannot lie."

I bought this yesterday and it is probably the best mass production knife I've seen/owned. Cold Steel do make SOME good knives, just don't go for the stingy AUS 8 knives. I also own a Holdout, OSI and Kobun and even they aren't bad for AUS 8.

In Australia, There is a "one to one learning program" which involves several thousand students in different schools getting laptops, of course they had to be Macs. My school was involved since it is the best public school in the state and the PM visited a few times about 2 years ago. Since they don't make Macbooks anymore we were the last grade to get them. (11th Grade, had them since 9). Now all the little faggots get Pros.

tl;dr School provided Macs with no choice otherwise. Seriously, we couldn't refuse them.

User avatar #59 to #57 - motherfuckingkenji ONLINE (05/08/2013) [-]
So what you're basically saying is that you're using the school's computer in that picture.
I'd ask why they allow you to bring a large knife to school, but when you said you live in Australia, it made sense.

Yeah I know, you're at home. Shut up.
#60 to #59 - kingkamikazi (05/08/2013) [-]
By grade 12 we actually own them, if we pay $200 on top of the $1200 we already pay ( **** that). and yes, I need to bring that to school as drop bear protection. I'll even upload a photo of the area in our school where there is a drop bear infestation after I do my detention tomorrow

Karambits are ******* awesome. Why should I go into in depth knife training when I can just yank out one of these bad boys and go to town on an attacker? ******* perfect self defense knife. I mean I wouldn't use it innawoods but i'd choose it for EDC.

User avatar #68 to #64 - garvielxloken (05/08/2013) [-]
Longer= bigger= slower. Accuracy don't count for jack **** when your guts are already spilled out on the ground.
#73 to #68 - deadlyambitions (05/08/2013) [-]
theirs a point where that comes into play but i should say skill with knife fighting.
and also longer blade longer reach
User avatar #75 to #73 - garvielxloken (05/08/2013) [-]
Same story. It doesn't matter if your knife has a longer reach. Any person with a lick of common sense is going to know that the key to their success is going to be to get in and on top of you as close as they can, and you're not going to be able to stop them. Your greater skill won't mean **** against someone who's using a knife that you don't need skill to use.
#80 to #75 - deadlyambitions (05/08/2013) [-]
ok u can run at me with a knife ill grab my katanna lol since reach dont matter lets see how well that ends for u... hmm ill even down size to a machette
User avatar #82 to #80 - garvielxloken (05/08/2013) [-]
And you'll ******* die, because you'd have to rear your arm back, during which time your attacker will have already have severed every muscle in your right arm, dragged the blade through your throat to take out your jugular and sever your wind pipe, and then finished it off by cutting through the muscles in your OTHER arm. All in two swift motions.
#89 to #82 - deadlyambitions (05/08/2013) [-]
i dont have to swing from top to bottom small little precise cuts man jesus
User avatar #142 to #89 - garvielxloken (05/09/2013) [-]
The autism in you is strong. You're not going to do damage for **** with a machette or a katana if you can't even get half of a swing going. Machettes are more like hitting someone with a damned baseball bat, and a Katana? You can't do **** with a 23 inch long weapon when someone's right on top of you. You can't make "precise little cuts" with a Katana OR a Machette. ******* A, stop being such a mall ninja.
#143 to #142 - deadlyambitions (05/09/2013) [-]
mall ninja lol actually i was trained in knife fighting and sword fighting lol so i know how to use both second of all ninjas didnt really use katanas they used mroe of a short sword. small wrist movements with a katana or holding it crosswise can defend easily against a small blade
User avatar #145 to #143 - garvielxloken (05/09/2013) [-]
You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. For one, you can't even EDC a katana. Secondly, if it WERE legal to EDC a Katana, anyone with these nifty little Karambits could kill you in a heart beat because of how small, deadly, and easy they are to use. Oh. My GOD. You're RIGHT...! Ninjas DID use shorter blades, and they kicked the living **** out of Samurai during the Sengoku period. Oh, wait a minute, what was the name of that sword that the Samurai used... Oh, what WAS it....!? Oh yeah. The KATANA. Let me just re-iterate that the Shinobi merced the living **** out of Samurai with their SMALLER weapons.
#146 to #145 - deadlyambitions (05/09/2013) [-]
lol it was actually very rare for ninjas and samuris to fight. first and second when they did get killed it was 90% assasination.... u know sneak up at night kinda thing and poisin stab or what ev. and actually I can carry a katana as long as im on my way to trian or from a shop a double edge sword is illegal..
User avatar #147 to #146 - garvielxloken (05/09/2013) [-]
Just to clarify, you do know what EDC means, right?
#148 to #147 - deadlyambitions (05/09/2013) [-]
everyday carry. its all on intent of how they can prosecute you. i actually have prettycalm police around here and i train with some so yea
User avatar #149 to #148 - garvielxloken (05/09/2013) [-]
You still can't legally EDC a Katana. There are laws against it, plus it would take a backwards retard to do. I don't care how well trained you claim to be. I think you're full of crap and if you really ever tried to use a Katana against a person with a lick of common sense who was using a Karambit, you'd be on the floor bleeding in a heart beat.
#88 to #82 - Womens Study Major (05/08/2013) [-]
I'm pretty sure a trained knife fighter, in any situation, is going to top an amateur in a knife fight. There's this thing called 'blocking', you know. Fighting is all about finding the best ways to defend and damage, someone who actually knows what they're doing is going to be able to predict and intercept attacks. There is no knife that you can fight well with when you haven't learned to fight. Not that anyone in the above thread knows how to do that or not
User avatar #144 to #88 - garvielxloken (05/09/2013) [-]
You don't have room to block in a fight that would occur with this knife, especially since it's use would be in such close proximity. Furthermore, you can't just "predict" what your assailant is going to do... You sound like you've been watching too many cartoons. Superior training does not mean certain victory. If you don't have the right tool for the fight your skills won't count for jack **** . Additionally This is isn't some forum, this is funnyjunk. So this is a comment section, not a thread.
