Those who will die in a zombie apocalypse are the ones trying to kill the zombies, or staying at places where there exists a lot of people, while those who'll live are the ones who try to avoid urban areas and such, any place that used to be filled with a lot of people and such.

Staying at the countryside or up in the mountains is much safer as it would mostly be less zombies and bandits there. Very few people live on the countryside/in the mountains so there will be few zombies there and bandits, although might always be on the move, look for places to raid.

The key is to avoid places, not to engage them as a superhero and try to rid it of zombies. But eventually, every place will fall. There's never going to be a place safe enough. Either bandits or a zombie horde will get you, so always keep on the move, or be ready to move.

No place is safe, only safer.

That being said, a compound with 4 foot thick solid oak walls(In a forest lots of wood) out in the middle of **** nut northern Canada stands a pretty good chance. Big enough to have fields to grow your own food and have a small community as you take in survivors. I'd have it so remote it would be useless to try and find on foot or in a vehicule if you didnt know where it was. Hell, I'd have it only reachable by plane with it's own airstripe and AA batteries.

I disagree, at this point i feel like the zombie apocalypse wouldn't be able to even start considering how easy it is to kill them when they don't outnumber you, so it would be nearly impossible for them to work up their numbers to an apocalyptic point.

Anon has a point.
Everyone acts like the world would be decimated, but those who are infected would most likely be quarantined.
If it got out of government control, people have seen enough hype about zombies to know to stay away form them.
Barricades would be much more effective than movies let on, as rotting muscles would not easily break boards.
But none of this is relevant, since this will never happen.

Except your underestimating human stupidity and over estimating the government reaction times.
Most people, if randomly bit by some dude on the street, are not going to quarantine themselves after the event, their going to get away from him and consider it just anther crazy person too hyped over drugs, at most they go to the hospital, where the doctors aren't going to jump up and say your going to turn into a zombie. and by the time people start to realize what it actually is, theres a decent number of zombies, and some dumb asses who just had to make their flight even though they where bit before it. so now you have it in two separate states, and unless its someplace like Washington, you cant quarantine the entire city in a timely manner, sense that requires manpower, you need to pull from elsewhere

And in a rural area as well, just gotta make sure to get armed up and stocked up once you hear it happening in a big city, Just in case.
And while it is Highly unlikely, i still like it think about such situations, Just because it would be fun for the 1st few weeks.. maybe months, but i know that at some point i would wish for it to go back to how it was...
i guess it helps i dont have too many friends or family to worry about dieing,

how is it about brains? well think about this, you cant bite through it? zombie cant, get a motorcycle suit and your protected from bites, used a brain for that one, place to hide, requires brains, reading maps,. brains, knowing where to and where not to look for supplies, braiiiinssz.. now you're a zombie \o/
#84 to #13 - oceanmist

(04/02/2013) [-]
All of that is pretty much common sense, pretty much everyone can figure out armor/maps unless you're like Paris Hilton. And a motorcycle suit isn't really the best kind, while teeth may not be sharp enough to break through the thicker ones you can still easily crush the skin underneath with the amount of power from jaws, it might save you from one but if you get mobbed it would do nothing. And brains won't magically let you know where supplies or hiding spots are, either you know those things or you don't. Where as if you were in shape you'd be faster at escaping, better at fighting off zombies, better at fighting other survivors, better at breaking into buildings for supplies/ shelter, able to work harder/longer, and be seen as more useful to other survivors. The only way brains might save you is if you're a lonely WOW player who has a years worth of Mt. dew and doritos in your basement stockpiled and never went outside to begin with. Although once power/internet goes out you might kill yourself anyway.

theres also the emotional factor of the whole thing most people seem to overlook, most people wouldnt even be in the mental state to survive if something like that would happen, people would go berserk because friends died, or they would just completely break down mentally if their parents got eaten, its not just the physical condition someone is in
