Let's say we have 100 pilots, 44% of that is obviously 44, and this is 33% of 44%, so that's 14.52 (round it to 15) so about 15 out of 100 instances would that occur.. even if you did fly often, that's not completely terrible odds

Ass because of reading math

Is it 33% of all pilots, or 33% of the 43% that fall asleep?

Considering how easy it is for humans to make a mistake and how much the computers manage the plane. I would actually prefer a computer flying the plane than a human pilot.

At any time, according to this post, at least 14.19% of the worlds planes are unpiloted.

ever heard of "Autopilot" ? , then there is the fact that take off and landing became so easy nowadays with all the instructions and safety procedures, that even if you had no background with flight , you can still land safely.

My cousin is a pilot and I can assure you that firstly, all pilots are supposed to take naps especially on long flight and also that planes fly themselves so it does not mstter if both fall asleep unless they are taking off and landing, and most times both are awake during both take off and landing, and certainly one if awake.

I'm pretty sure this was taken from Cracked and the logo has just been cropped off from the bottom.

Yeah well nowadays the only use for a pilot is in the case of am emergency, other than that a modern jet can fly and land completely on its own

Military pilots sometimes sleep during flight as well.

And here I was, thinking the joke was the fact that they fell asleep, and aren't the ones on the plane flying it.
<gif unrelated.

Well, of course they fall asleep. Pilots are encouraged to sleep in shifts during long international flights, because it makes them much more alert and responsive during landing procedures.
