I can't be the only American here finding it disturbing that a government can ban you for saying things the public or it don't agree with.

There's freedom of speech, then there's just outright verbal abuse. Canada, and the UK as well, since they also banned them, are not interested in having some brainwashed idiots picketing against their dead and grieving citizens. And You find it disturbing that we don't? come on, man!

As a homosexual, I get a lot of stick, but I can understand and respect when people put forth a well constructed anti-gay argument.

HOWEVER Westboro have nothing; they're just saying "God hates America" and "God hates fags" and god hates this, that, and the other.
Which completely contradicts their bibles when says God loves all, and is forgiving. They're using their religion as a weapon, and a shield to hide behind.

Leviticus is like playing Christanity on hard mode, and not even that says anything about God hating anyone of any race, sex, sexuality, nationality or ability.

Welcome to the illusion of freedom and rights.
you have the right and freedom to say what you want.
But the government have the right to take away your rights if it suits them.
and rights are not rights is they can be taken away.

Yes. When those things are hate, why are they allowed.

If you went around shouting ****** at all black people you see, then get them arrested when they hit you and say "i'm allowed to say what I like under free speech", I recon you'd be ****** then, why not in this case?

But this is how the freedom works.
You have right to say whatever you want.
BUT
I don't have to agree or support you in any way. I have a RIGHT to think you are an idiot and make you stay off my property.
Lets put it this way. I'm not going to go to guy next door's yard and shut him up when he is saying horrible things to people. but I sure as hell won't let him come in MY house and say that to MY family.

I'm American and despite the fact that westboro is just a bunch of brainwashed ****** faggots, i don't think that should make it so there freedoms are taken away. They have a freedom of express and even though none of us like it including myself it's still there right. If you take their freedoms away, you set a precedent for anyone to have there freedoms taken away.

TL;DR If you take away someone's rights just because you don't like it, then anyone's rights can be taken away because you don't like them. Inb4 red thumbs

Freedom carries responcibliy.
You have right to say what you want, but you also have to accept that there are consequences of your actions.
If neighbor's kid is horribly foulmouthed bully, I'm not going to slap him around and tell him to shut up. I'm not even going to go to his parents and demand they shut him up and keep him under control. I am, on the other hand, say that he can't come into my house and play with my kids.
That is MY right.

Yeah, personally I think that handguns are unneeded unless you are a cop or in the military. For personal use, I think shotguns (no pistol grip or sawed off either, just a regular pump action or two barreled shotgun) and rifles are all you should be able to own.

If people want to have fun shooting a machine gun (which I understand, it can be fun), I fully support licensed gun ranges that will have those weapons on hand, so you can only use them in a supervised area where the risk of someone using it to kill people is practically zero.

How ever, there is no need for a civilian to own an AR15 or any other "civilian" model assault weapon.

I'm easily on the fence about this. On one side the westboro church is a cruel and disgusting church which I feel strongly against like most people. On the other hand they have mostly followed the law. They do not initiate any violence with the other parties, they do not pass the barrier when it comes to funerals, etc. Now if you ever have read " if you give a mouse a cookie" you will see the mouse will gradually demand more things. You can easily associate this with Canada and how they are starting to ban citizens who have not in any way disturbed the peace and might eventually start to ban other people from entering based on certain things. I'm not saying I support them, I am just stating that that banning them JUST because they are massive ******* douche bags does not give the Canadian government a valid reason considering how they are a leading country in freedom. I just feel as if Canada is putting its emotional feelings into freedom of speech which I do not approve of. Sorry if this offended anyone.

Canada has laws against hate speech. Real laws unlike america. A lot of things they have said and done would get them put away for a long time in Canada. So it's probably best they don't come here.

I think telling a mother that just lost her son fighting for your country "thank god for dead soldiers" and that the army is a group of "baby killing scum" could count as disturbing the peace, or it should do.

Section 1 of the Canadian Charter allows the government to limit an individuals charter rights, aka, if the government doesn't like what you're doing they can tell you to **** off despite the charter. The Westbro takes it way too far and thus not only is this justifiable but if anything it's probably gonna stop them from being beaten to death by angry Canadians, and also they're not even Canadian citizens and thus they don't even have the protection of the charter in the first place.
