Hey funnyjunk, i have a serious question. I have a Japanese Foreign exchange student (i'm his host brother) how the **** do i get him to leave my house for a couple hours a day?

I have taken the liberty of hiding every single video game i own, so he can't play them.
He never goes to our school games even when asked to go with other friends.
He never actually hangs out with friends outside of school, he never does anything!
Literally, he has made his life consist of sitting on our couch watching tv, or playing video games.
Any helpful advice?

How is that the american experience he came here for?

have you asked him why?

Like REALLY asked him? Hardcore communication is the only thing I can suggest.

Otherwise spike his drink with LSD. I'm not sure that will help but it will definitely make his trip memorable.

haha, that isn't a bad idea. And yeah i have talked to him about it. Paused our video game and everything, but he changes the subject fairly quick by unpausing the game.

What i don't understand is, why go to a different country if you aren't going to live it up.

I told him, it's a chance to start over, you'll only be here for a couple more months live it up, do things you never dreamed of doing in front of the people you will see every day for the rest of your life.

Holy ****, I had a jap exchange dudeski in my apartment last semester and he NEVER left. It was just sad. What I could get him out for is going out to eat, and they seem to like cigarettes in Japan, see if he'll go out for a smoke with you (btw I am a nonsmokerfag but I just puffed them) otherwise, all dudes like chicks so maybe you can see if you can introduce him to some women

My friends and i have "Social gathering of fights" (totally not a fight club) some people light up there, sometimes i join them ask him to come along he says no then goes and sits in a corner.

Though i'll try to get him out to our local coffee shop every day i can after school, that wouldn't be a bad idea

Dear ******* Hell when will people just shut the **** up about this?!

Here's the rundown, it's great that GB can illegalize and pretty much fully control all of thier guns but that isn't really a possibility in the US. GB is part of an island, a geographical advantage the US doesn't have. GB doesn't rely on gun production as a means of income. The US is #1 in ownership and production of firearms in the WORLD, that's not going to stop anytime soon. The banning of guns would do a few things, but eradicate gun crime it will definitely not.

"But if you take away the guns you take away the crime, right?"
No, in fact you do NOT. You will curb gun violence and minimize it yes, but you're not taking into account that instead of people buying guns legally they'll just import them from Mexico, Canada, or China. If you stop gun sales to civilians that essentially hands over a billion dollar industry to very dangerous and very entrepreneurial cartels and gangs(they're already thriving off of marijuana which is already ridiculous). Americans are a crazy mix of everything, the operative word there is CRAZY and we are. Americans, believe it or not, are extremely creative and find ways to circumvent the law in as many ways as they change the law. In the climate America is in now it is not possible nor is it practical to illegalize guns totally. Get off your high horse world, we all have problems. The thing is, gun control isn't even all that terrible of an issue in America. We have so many other looming problems, most gun casualties are due to misuse of the tool(i.e. people shooting friends/family accidentally or shooting themselves). If there's anything that will make the US safer it will be the proper training of usage of guns. Say what you want but that is our reality.

tl;dr 'Murica loves our guns needs our guns to not starve

It's funny because American's constantly judge the middle east for problems they can't control and always act like they're better than other countries/places, yet when the tables are turned they all seem to turn into keyboard warriors and have bitch fits.

It's nice to put everyone under a single blanket right? I understand what you're saying and it's unfortunate that a LARGE percentage of my fellow Americans like to point a judgemental finger but myself and almost all of my peers don't share that quality. Many of us Americans are opening our eyes to the ******** our country is pulling.

My foreign policy? **** the foreign(kidding) I just want the US to focus internally before we invest our money and efforts into other places. I understand that foreign lands have different cultures and different understandings. I don't agree with some of the things that happen in other borders, but that isn't my mess to clean up. If they see fit to do something our country doesn't agree with I think it is our responsibility to let that be known and not deal with that country as much as possible but that should be the most we do. I don't think it is our job to evangelize democracy or our way of governance because our very own citizens aren't happy with the way our country is run.

What I'm saying here is that we are an imperfect country and until we reach that perfection we have no place in sticking our fingers into other people's pie. We should improve within our own country(a wealthy country that has sick, poor, and starving people is beyond shameful) before we start improving others.

I think my country got a big head after we made out so well in WWII, we streamlined production and gained a lot of wealth in a relatively short period of time. So now we think we know what's right for everyone. I'm not saying it's right, I'm sayin that's why a faction of us believe with such furvor that we are the pinnacle. That is not all of us though and you'd be very careful to heed that.

It's our right to bear arms. You could kill a person with a knife just as easily.

You could kill a person with sex, too. And rope.

Shouldn't they be banned?

Thumb this down if you want, it isn't going to change the truth.

Debatable on the knife one. It's a lot easier to kill someone with a well-placed bullet from far away than it is to get up close to a person who's scared for their life and stab them to death.

Did you hear about the knifing in China where someone stabbed I believe it was about 30 people. It doesn't matter what weapon an individual has, they will still find ways to kill. People were using swords before firearms were invented, why didn't we ban those? People kill people, weapons are just utensils.

But the fact that mass murders nowadays are almost all committed by guns would point to the contrary. For every mass stabbing, there's far more mass shootings. I take this to mean that guns have more lethality than knives.

You know how to stop a bad guy with a gun? Bring a good guy with a gun. You can't expect a criminal to just stop what they are doing if they have a gun in a Gun-Free Zone. A sign is clearly going to save innocent lives. Besides, even if you do outlaw/ban or try to reduce guns, criminals are going to find ways to get them illegally. Banning Heroine, Cocaine, Marijuana, and Alcohol worked really well right? You don't see those anymore ever since they became illegal. Banning guns only hurts the law-abiding and even the economy. If I owned a business, I would have a Pro-Gun policy, meaning that people could be armed in my business. 10/10 times, if someone walks into my store to rob it/commit a crime, myself and law-abiding, confident customers would gladly come to our defense and deter all forms of aggression. Sorry if I sounded rude or anything, not trying to be butthurt. The public just doesn't understand.

I never said to ban or even heavily regulate guns my good sir, I'm against such things. I'm just trying to make the point that guns have more lethality than knives. I also agree that a good bit of the public doesn't seem to understand what happens when guns are regulated in America.

These people that go on rampages are angry and mad, They think they are entitled
to take someones life, This shows no respect or even simple morality thoughts. Alot of people say that serial killers are intelligent. I think its the opposite, they have no idea how to function in a evolved world such as this were we have free trade and a socitiy so they have to resort to getting angry at it.

Americans are not intellegent there school system is a joke and people from what I have seen do little outside research.

but there are some inteligent americans, do not let the huge stinking pile of **** that is the masses fog your views. the country just needs to get its **** together in the means of politics, then work their way down to the people, because right now the country is divided between dumb ***** that pray their problems away instead of solving them and the other side that at least tries to look like they care. i mean look at this ****, secuestra or whatever, it is literally the country committing suicide because we cannot come to an agreement. it is ridiculous.

I'd argue that mass shootings are an entirely different issue. The gun crime rates are the issue here and result in a lot more deaths than those awful mass shootings.

If you need religion to obtain your morals, wouldn't that make being Christians the ones with the fault. I'm not religious, and wasn't brought up by christianity that much either. I got my morals from parents who just new was right. That being said, you are completely ruling out psychopaths, who lack certain brain developments....

And basicly right now you're placing all blame on our parents, stand up to your own damn mess, the us have a ****** up system at the moment where you have the right to hate but not to love, where prisoners are taken better care of than innocent citizens.

The banks that is to be the private sector who can be allowed to gamble and take all the benefits and risks but when they lose everything they go for goverment handouts that the people pay for.

Also, land of the free my acking ass, most people put in prison per capita, more defense spending than anyone else in the world and the runner ups are your own damn allies, yet they still **** up royaly and imprison those who seek to uncover the armys wrong doings and show it to their own people back home.

I'm sorry, but you have a bit of a ****** up country and shifting all the blame on your parents and declaring christianity the moral code to prevent homicides is just ********.

wow I am so done with gun debate on this site, it like talking to a 5 year old with downs syndrome . Regulations on guns doesn't mean taking away guns you have already or making sure you can't have more it is about making sure that only people who are of sound mind and trained with no serious criminal records or mental problems get guns. Because (and I'm sure everyone know someone) some people really shouldn't be allowed to even hold fire arms for the good of everyone and or themselves.

Those are the only people who can get guns (legally) as it is. Where is this mystical free-for-all gun store that just hands out assault rifles like candy? Because I wish to be the proud owner of a rocket launcher.

Man, I wish it were about disarming people who shouldn't own a firearm, but our government doesn't want us to own anything that threatens their rule. Obama was saying "I have no problem with hunters" cool story, I've never went hunting and own 4 rifles. He'd ban every type of firearm if he could do it without the government being overthrown. If it were to just disarm criminals and mentally ill people, I'd be all for it. But we have laws on the books already to address this and they won't. They just want to disarm Americans.

From this side, it also feels like I'm debating with 5 year olds. Because we do not agree on the topic, doesn't mean one of us is more educated. In my home, i'm 100% right. In your home, you're 100% right.

Anon because of libfags outnumbering everyone on this site.

Yep. I know several individuals who really don't need to be anywhere near a gun. I actually bought one from just such a person to keep the world a little safer. Sure, I took a loss of about $150, but the guy I bought the gun from is a nutjob, and now it's safe behind 4 inches of steel/ceramic sandwich.
Pic related, this is kind of what the guy I'm talking about looks like.

Also, we already have a background check system. I'm not sure why people think having another background check system that's exactly like the one we currently have is going to change anything.

Er... Have you ever bought a gun from any store that sells guns? I mean, if you have and you didn't have to fill out any paper work you should probably not be talking about it on the internet, and get rid of the gun as quickly as you possibly can.
If this were to happen at a legitimate gun store there would be helicopters circling an hour after the incident. At the very least 4473 has to be filled out, part of witch activates a background check, if the check comes back with any red flags expect federal marshals at your front door.

It doesn't matter. This is a FEDERAL background check. You know, the FBI, and other alphabet soup agencies run your name through their nice big data banks. It doesn't matter what the local laws are. If you get a gun at a gun shop it's going to get your name in a computer.

right but until very recently most places didn't do basic background checks and the federal background check only looks to see if you have committed any felonies which most folks have not .

That's not true. I'm not sure who told you that, but it's not at all true. Last time I bought a gun the background check showed a parking ticket I had received a couple weeks before. Federal back ground checks are just as intense as local background checks.

i live in alaska we have some of the loosest gun laws in the country. it took at least 30 minutes for them to process the background portion. and your clearly misinformed since you cant own a firearm if you have any domestic violence convictions, some of which arent felonies. you can get charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and never be allowed to own a gun
