Tris? HAH! Quads4Life

In all seriousness, I'd take the 600 Tris one and Texture bake the details of the 60000 on to it with Displacement maps, and Normals. Sure, the 6000/60000 ones have more detail, but in terms of optimisation for rendering and game engines, You can get the same result from using Less Tris/Quads. For example, Look at the Gears of War 1 Models, They were literally Blobs in 3D, But with Bump and Normals, they look like the Marcus and Dom we know today.

Tri's Look Gross anyway, All stages of these models would look better in quads.

Once people wont be able to tell the difference in graphics quality and it will be so much easier to handle developers will have more time (if they aren't EA) to focus on gameplay and storyline, as these will stand out a lot more in future games, I am guessing this should begin in the PS5, Xbox4, Wii3 generation, so the 9th gen.

I'd actually like a game with "old-school" N64/PS1 tier models if it used the extra time not spent on graphics for like story and gameplay.

Like if it was a really great game, but looked like Mario 64, I'd still play the **** out of it.

Although World of Warcraft's enjoyability took an exponentially increasing downhill curve since the release of WoTLK (The expansion itself was rather good), It looks much better than other recent MMOs, despite it's lack of polygons. Recent MMOs like Rift have just made everywhere look green and foresty without varying colour or scenery very much at all. With World of Warcraft, every new area had a different theme and you could really feel the new atmosphere it created... I have stopped playing it now though, now that almost every aspect of the game has been completely ****** .

And lets not forget, that high poly count doesn't do all the job. Textures are very important and you can trick quite a lot of people into believing something is much more detailed just by slapping well done maps on your models.

This is missing the point of more powerful computers and consoles. Even if adding more polygons doesn't make a character look "that" much better, we can fit more of them on screen at once, along with better A.I., more particle effects, etc. Essentially, we can fit more stuff onto the screen at once and make that stuff behave more realistically.
