consider the following. what if the deitiy some call god/allah/etc. made the world like a game of sims and is just seeing what we do by ourselves. but every once in a while he intervenes?is that not a decent theory? and maybe he made us curious creatures so that we would use science to discover more about us and the universe we live in?

But you see, religion was much more relevant when those amazing structures were built. Back then, the existence of deities/gods was the best way they had to explain how the universe works. People of every religion toiled for years in every corner of the globe to show appreciation for the forces of our universe, which they interpreted as god(s). Both of these structures are absolutely amazing, each in their own way.

I like old school churches and cathedrals. Something with history to it. Then you see some of the abominations that are modern day religious buildings and I think wtf.

Side note, I know someone who was working on the foundatioms of a new mosque and they put a packet of pork svratchings into the cement...

One is designed to be beautiful and the other is designed to be functional. Comparing them doesn't make sense.

There is thousands of things that science created, millions in fact. Yet all religion does is just cause wars. ******* christian assholes

Religion didn't cause those wars, people did. Even as an atheist it's hard to deny that religion was used as the justification for some truly awful things, but the underlying reasons behind those things weren't rooted in religion nearly as much as they were in people seeking more power.

You know, many people from my country blamed the former dictator, Ceausescu, for razing a part of the Old Historical Center to build the 2nd biggest itemsistrative building in the world, many people being forced into labor and the national debt went sky-high for this monstrous gargantuan...

...But we do have the 2nd biggest itemsistrative building in the world...

I actually quite like religious buildings, not gonna lie. But yeah, science wins this one.
User avatar #12 - xmeatshieldx (03/04/2013) [-]
I don't think they put that building together with bibles and faith.

Well, there's a difference between architecture and engineering.
