god forbid if a seldom used coin gets retired. If only there was some other form of US currency that had his face on it to carry on his legacy

Anybody interested in learning more about the uselessness of the penny and nickel, and just generally get smart in general, I'd suggest watching videos by vlogbrothers and scishow, or pretty much anything brothers John and Hank Green make. They update often and they're very interesting. Friendly tip to all :)

Pennies are worth 1 cent but cost two to make them. It's smart. Besides, he's on the five dollar bill anyways.

Or we could just add add more copper to the penny giving it back it's value... while we are doing that we could add silver back into nickels, dimes and quarters, then we could get rid of our terrible paper currency and use gold coinage.

The reason they want to stop the production of the penny(Congress, not Obama) is because it costs more than it is worth.

pffft, might want to com up with some evidence to back your **** up OP, that's almost too ironic to be physically possible in this universe.

I don't think we should get RID of the penny, but we could do without producing more, at least for the time being.

I don't think the penny is useless. If we got rid of the penny we'd have to restructure the pricing of everything. For example we couldn't sell stuff at $1.99 anymore, as the change would be uneven. Even if we change the pricing so that everything ends in a 0 or a 5, we'd have to account for tax.

The smallest coin in my country is 10c, and everything is still X dollars and 99 cents.
The stores just round the total up or down.

Well, do you honestly want to have a coin whose value is not at a 5 or 0 interval?

I think they should take the nickel too. I honestly find any change under a quarter completely useless. I think most people would throw pennies in the garbage if it were socially acceptable. When they start to phase them out they should make recycle bin-like collection cans people can throw them in for charity.

A) Obama's only half black
B) The half that is black isn't even African American.

if it's any consolation it took until the dollar became so inflated a penny was useless before a brother got into office
User avatar #54 - Metallicock ONLINE (02/25/2013) [-]
It cost more to make pennies than they're worth

At least he still has the $5 bill. Plus, there won't be any more stupid things costing $19.99. Now they'll all just cost $19.95.
User avatar #50 - shadowm (02/25/2013) [-]
Canadians just officially got rid of their penny at the start of this month
