I'm an absolutely massive Naughty Dog fan, and I've adored every single one of their games (well, Uncharted 3 was a bit of a let down actually), but The Last of Us doesn't really look all that appealing to me. I got excited at first because I thought they were going back to open world like Jak & Dax.
I figured it would be a bit like Fallout, but from what I can tell it's in a linear structure like Uncharted. I'm sure it'll be well done, but I've played so many damn serious/apocalyptic/linear games over the past few years I'm thoroughly tired of them.
Does anybody else feel the same?

Don't worry friend, better times are before us in the world of open world/apocolptic gaming

Always, when faced with a decision between right and wrong, do the right thing. No matter how wronged you were, or angry you might be, the right thing is always the best thing.

Always stick by your friends, no matter what. Even if you have differences, even if you get into fights, even if your friends make you mad, friends are the most important parts of our lives. Always remember the ones that stick by your side through thick and thin.

These two games were my childhood. They thought me those very important lesson about life that i continue to this day follow. Whenever i was sad or lonely or depressed as a kid, i could always turn on the PS2 and hear the wisecracking Daxter or the smart mouthing Ratchet, or for a brief moment I would be happy. I sit here now, a 19 year old college student in his dorm, and i reflect on those day, and can say honestly they were some of the happiest of my life.

Okay rant time.

Crash and Spyro were my childhood an to date, Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage (Gateway to Glimmer in the UK I think) remains my favourite game ever, I can replay and never tire of it. Now, when I was a kid, I didn't know Insomniac and Naughty Dog sold the games (This was around the PS2 selling, not the new one) and I didn't really care cause I was a kid and just liked playing games. So when games like Crash Twinsanity or Spyro: A Hero's Tale came out, I wanted them.

Now here's where things get complex. Even though Twinsanity is not made by ND I still believe it to be the best Crash game and the one the capture's Crash's being in the best possible way. I didn't get my hands on A Hero's Tale until a couple years after, and by that time... well by that time I had become someone who judges games. A Hero's Tale wasn't awful, in fact, it was kind of neat, it took cues from Spyro 3 and kept with the story of Spyro just like Twinsanity did with Crash, my only real problem with it was the giant aesthetic change, it was a Spyro game, but some things just didn't fit, the most prominent being that they changed Money Bags from a conniving con man, to a shifty convenience store cleck... I honestly thought that this would be the extent of Spyro's downhill spiral... boy was I wrong...

When it was announced that a new Spyro and a new Crash game were coming out I was ecstatic. However, they companies had once again shifted, this time, they both went to Sierra... (Radical had Crash if I'm not mistaken, or Vicarious Visions). When Crash of the Titans came out, I will say I was disappointed, but in all honesty it was still a Crash game, the gameplay had changed a tad, but the characters were all there and the gameplay was tolerable, Mind of Mutant even improved on it, so I was okay with that. Then... there was the Legend of Spyro series... these games were loads of ****, they changed everything about Spyro that the fans loved and threw it away, the made a hacknslash out of a...

platformer game, and it was ****. I'll keep this part short seeing as I already capped the last comment. They made him look gross and they even changed the story, originally it was only supposed to be a prequel and I was sort of okay with it at that point, but then in the 3rd Legend of Spyro game that introduced Hunter as this big muscular Robin Hood character and everything was just a mess, but I couldn't have imagined what would happen next...

Skylanders... I don't have much to say on this, other than it's a piece of **** so bad (not to mention corrupt) that I don't even want to acknowledge it's existence... I mean, at least the Legend series kept the universe sort of the same with places like Avalar... but this... just ugh...

TL:DR Crash was cool, and still is pretty cool, Spyro was cool, but Activision killed him...

Is it wrong that I loved the first Legend of Spyro game then? I never played the other two, but I quite liked the first one.

imagine if naughty dog got the rights of crash back and made an HD reboot of the series with the similar cutscene-gameplay element uncharted had!

Crash deserves to be in Playstation Allstars Battle Royale. I like the characters but a game representing Playstaion's history of video games should have Crash and Spyro.

Crash Bandicoot 2 was the first game I ever beat completely back when I was 7 years old. I still play it once a year with my little sister. That series was awesome back in the day.
