i believe him. At mcdonalds, when its slow, if the manager isnt around and I cant find the button to charge them for something (I actually work in the back but when its slow i work in the front too) I just give it to them.

No manager has cared so far, it just appears as a missing item and usually counted as thrown out instead of put in waste.

I work at Target and did this also...

A little kid really wanted a toy and there was no barcode to scan on it (some other kid probably chewed it off for all I know). The toy was only worth two or three dollars so I just said they could take it.

I'm sure Target will survive.

I think it may be called Don's Boat. Here is a section of it. With a few words changed, the whole thing would be epic.
“Let’s go, Ben,” said Jen. “Don wants to show us his big boat at the lake.” “Is this the boat, Don?” asked Ben. “Yes. We must blow it up,” said Don. “It’s hard, but I know we can do it.” “Ben and I can help,” said Jen. “Yes,” said Ben. “We can help blow up the boat.” “See,” said Don. “When we row, we can make the boat go fast or slow.” “It’s your turn, Ben,” gasped Jen. “This is hard,” panted Ben. “Take it, Jen.” “Not yet, please,” moaned Jen. “We did it!” boasted Don. “It floats! Do you want a boat ride?” “Yes! Yes!” yelled Jen and Ben. “We can take turns rowing,” said Don. “Take turns?” groaned Jen and Ben. “Not that!”

a friend of mine use to work at Target but then she got mono and had to stay home for awhile. She brought in doctor's notes to excuse her absences, but her boss fired her saying that she wasn't allowed to have any sick days.

I work at Target now and that doesn't sound like Target at all... maybe she forgot to notify them, or change her availability in her schedule. Because Target cannot fire you like that unless you have a "no call no show" where you don't show up OR call them, which if that were the case, they could, yes, fire you.

Seems like you only got one side of the story, Target always comes off as very nice and understanding to me. Maybe she just had a bad manager though....

from what I've heard, the target she worked at is pretty ****** and they fire more than hire.
