I play Smite...Waiting patiently for Hirez to get their shit together and make the game balanced...
I (and my friends) bought in to the Smite beta almost as soon as it was up for release. I ended up playing for like 2 weeks before I decided that it was too unbalanced for me to really enjoy. The game isn't bad, but it has some of the worst balancing issues I've ever seen.
does anyone have a key for DoTA 2 i could have? steam name: stealdrill
in return i have a portal 2 key i can send you.

I just got Dota 2 (gifted from a friend) and i don't know where to start or how to play, i also see a tutorial button but it won't work for me, so can anyone tell me what it's about?
go to youtube a seach for dota cinema and google for dotafire so some guides.
the tutorial is still being worked on, there is also this guy called cyborgmatt that usually sees what they added to dota with the patch and the tutorial has been getting constant updates so it should be out... soonish.
if you are in the EU i might help you

By reading some of these comments below if dota 2 has longer matches then Lol that could be one heck of a grind. Lol matches are a minimum 20 minutes and a really long one goes for over 50 minutes. So if a dota game takes longer than that you are going to be there for a while.
dota 2 is more slowpaced, with a bigger map and longer playtime, whereas lol is fast paced action with the teamfights decided by a spur of moment and it offers bigger champion diversity, personally i also find it easier to comprehend...

On top of this, DotA 2 is slow in the beginning, but they both start slow and get faster paced as you advance through the game. Plus, they both have those big spur of the moment team fight moments. It's all a matter of trying both and seeing which you prefer (much like the person below me, havockwzy, said)
i'm sorry but i have to dissaggree, the skills in dota 2 are entirely different (and not to mention the absolute lack of caster class) with the crowd controls being basically unavoidable and waaaaay longer this results in 8 beefy champs circling around 2 agility carries that are trying to take out each other, besides a LoL teamfight resembles an explosion while in Dota 2 it's more of a tennis match, yes there are big turnover moments in both games but in lol you get 2 per fight in dota it's about 12

Well, the first thing I have to say is that the caster classes are mainly in intel (the stat that gives mana and mana regen). Also, the stuns don't last as long as you're making them out to be (there are a few exceptions but generally they aren't). Plus, there are items that can be used to avoid all stuns and damaging abilities to help you out. Additionally, the stuns are longer than a second; because, the skills are not scaled to the amount of a specific stat that you have. On top of this, there's normally 2 beefy champs per team if you want a very tanky team with a support a caster (such as invoker) and a carry of some sorts. With this, the battles in LoL are huge explosions that go off instantly or close to it, but the ones in dota are more like chaos on a battlefield that requires thinking quickly and under pressure. I have played both, but as I said it is all personal preference.
the skills not being scaled is basically what i'm pointing at, that's what makes the aps in lol an important dmg output... if you don't have a caster in your team in dota, you can still pull it off, if you don't have one in LoL you;re basically fucked (unless you;re playing on normal mode ofc). In LoL there are casters that can shoot your carry down before they even have a chance to react, i have yet to find such a character in dota... also by unavoidable i mean that the CCs in dota are mainly autoaimed am i correct? whereas in LoL it's skillshot based, so unless you have some sort of counter CC or a miracle you can just watch as they rape you...

There's quite a few skill shot stuns in dota, and the autoaims generally have short ranges. Plus, you can't normally have a good win without a caster due to their stuns and amazing damage output by having the stronger/more spammable, lower cost abilities while they also have more. Plus, the items in DotA 2 are most of the time an inventory of ones that can be activated. It requires timing to know when to use them and how. (even the potions are different due to you needed an open chance to use them or else it's wasted) Also, being items that require activation means that you also need to know more than what gives more stats than the others.

so you aggree with me that dota is more tactical, with concepts that are more difficult to understand and lacks the "dead in half a second" situations, yet you deny it.... we're saying the exact same thing but it would appear that you have trouble looking past the smaller differences, aren't you american by any chance?

Sorry, I thought my previous statment still made my point very obscure. No, I simply was saying that they both include things that the other does not, but they both are slow paced from the start. Also, I was just trying to give you a better view of what DotA 2 is like. I am not saying that it is also very difficult to understand. First time you play it you might not completely understand it; however, as you play 2 or more games it's simple, and it does leave you a few more tips and tricks you can learn to improve. Additionally, I was adding on points about DotA that you seemed to leave out even though it is present in both games.

I have this feeling that you know little about Dota. No Caster class? That's half the characters are based off abilities. Yeah, there's no ability power, but that doesn't meant here's no casters. As well, to an earlier comment, Dota 2 will have a larger roster once the other 10 or so heroes are in. Crowd control is quite avoidable depending on your character, and beefy characters are way more common in LoL, as it's easier to build HP. Really, you just have an ill-constructed anti-Dota comment. Please, learn, then type, before you lead others astray. Both games are fun in their own ways, and your descriptions of them are horrid.
The casters in dota have no way of raising their dmg, all they have is base stats and they upgrade mana and such, a caster in dota will never have such an impact on the game outcome as the one in lol... put a late game fed ad carry and ap carry against each other in lol and it depends on skill, do so in dota and the caster stands little chance of beating him, you also missunderstood what i mean by champion diversity, it is not a larger roster, it's the number of ways you can play your champion and the number of roles you can assume and how you can act in them, sorry for not being clear enough... even though it's easier to build hp it's also much easier to cut it down, so that pretty much evens itself out... as for the CCs, from what i saw in dota many of the stuns and such are autoaimed whereas in LoL it's more common for a CC to be a skillshot, that's what i meant by unavoidable... although you have guessed correctly that i am unfamiliar with dota so these are just MY PERSONAL immpressions, due to a bug concerning server connectibility which occured after one of the recent patches i am currently unable to play for some time already and have played only a few games before

Rather than say a longwinded answer, I just have to say that it is obvious that you do not play Dota. You are being nothing but a LoL fanboy, and it's annoying to read your comments. Good day, sir.
PS: Learn shit about your own game, too. No way in hell could an AP take on a full built Ez.

that is for you to decide.
it rally is, you need to try both to see which one gives you a better time. for me it was dota 2 but for you LoL might suit you more.
still you will have a shit start no matter where you beging but part of the fun is becoming better with different heroes and item builds,
you can go to the LoL website and start playing or i can give you an invite for dota 2 for free if you want

It's still considered to be in beta, so it's pay for early access, fill out a survey and wait, or find a friend who has keys (valve gives them out a lot and with many at a time). I am happy to see that you like League though (I like both). Good luck in your future games and have fun!

you must be at the low levels of matchmaking if that's the case. At my point it's like.
Everyone wants to play a carry hurr durr go figure. No support for your team, so you either have to gank to get ahead or be really good at farming and escaping. If their team has a support you pretty much lose without a doubt, and if your team does you win easy mode. Get that shitty logic out of your head, because that's what kills public matches.

My account personally is low level, but I used to usually play on my friends account, and he is really high level, now low level is boring and im trying to level my account, not to mention my teams almost always work anyway, I only do this when they don't, I guess im just a lucky one. But when they are shit they are really shit.
Well you're going to reach a point where you'll consistently be paired with Russians who don't speak English at all, or people who think playing a carry is going to win the game. That's when you've got to form a team. I really hate that point.
No they're not.
Arma 2 is a milsim on large maps with accurate ballistics, weapon charasteristics and an indept mission editor and scripting system along with AI that can respond to contact with only a few hard coded scripts running.
CoD is an arcade shooter on small maps with hitscan weapons, no mission editing or scripting of any kind apart from modding and the AI are actually turrets with animations.

No they're not you retard.
MOBA games generally only have one map and three lanes with 5 players and mobs running down the lanes, that's how MOBA is played.
I'm talking about the games in pro play and whatnot, where the difference is huge between the two when some real skill and thought is applied.

I guess this is a fair time to say that I prefer Smite over DotA 2 or LoL, mainly because I got into it before the others.
i have dota and i dont even want to try it.
its almost an f2p game now everyone is getting free copies.
my friend even have like 94 copies just by playing the game.
and its probably pay2win.

MOBA stand for multiplayer online battle arena. Basically there is a symmetrical (diagonally symetrical) map with turrets (blue and purple) going down 3 roads. these roads, or lanes, are called top, mid, and bot. You must destroy the first turret in the lane before you can destroy the next one. The little thing you see after the 3 turrets is an inhibitor. Unlike turrets they do not attack back, but if you destroy them you will start spawning super miinons. Minions, which you always spawn near the start of the match and spawn automatically, are kind of little foot soldiers to take the damage of the turrets and fight the opposing minions. You play a champion, or hero, who has 4 abilities. Most moba games get a new champion ever month, and most have about 100 to begin with. Each champion have a different role, whether it be damage, tanking, supporting (includes tanking and healing) and other roles. One of these roles is a jungler (see those trees in between lanes? Thats the jungle) A jungler roams around the jungle killing the neutral monsters instead of killing minions for gold. They gank (flank) lanes when enemy champions are at a point to be killed easily. Basically each of these matches last around 20-45 minutes, and sometimes may go up to 2 hours (extremely rare, I've been playing for more than a year, and my longest match was 1 hour and 15 minutes). There are dozens of MOBA games out there, The two most popular are League of Legends, or LoL (a lot of posts here on FJ regard LoL) and DOTA 2. I recommend League of Legends, if you're interested in a moba game. Any questions?
yeah those are the main 3, but there are a lot more. I would recommend LOL because not only does it have 2 other maps, but it has the biggest player base (probably about 35 million total people have played it around the world before). It also hosts the best of contests and tournaments. There are pro players out there and make a lot of money with promotions.
its not really p2win as the stuff you get in the store with paid RP are all cosmetic. You can't even buy runes (the game changing stuff) with RP at all, but with your standard in game earnt IP. I know some guys in pro teams who never bought RP and got pro in less than a year.
thats why i said a BIT, you can get all the stuff that matter for free but if and idiot goes and buys enought stuff to fill a rune page and you have yours almost empty then it will bea bit unfair
I admit its rare to happen but its just something i never enjoyed much on LoL

Thanks, and also on the final note, if you're planning to make a lol account, use this link: signup.leagueoflegends.com/?ref=503fa593eefa6759068546 its very important because its a refer a friend link and it will give me some more IP. If you're gonna start playing, I'd be more than happy to help you get started :)
since its not an open world game but a match making, and you get gold in a match, IP is like your rewarded currency for your account, (also very important, in a match your champion goes to level 18, and your account itself can go to level 30, but thats not that important right now) IP is used to buy new champions (there are 8 free ones every week so you can play new champions without buying them to see how you like them before you get them) IP is also used to get runes, which give you slight benefits in a match, like +5 Damage, 4% increased attack speed or something like that. RP is the paid currency used to get skins.
