In Brotherhood, they explain how the Homunculi are made and why they are named after the deadly sins. The fights are a lot more intense. The story follows the manga a lot closer. The reason for the war in Liore is a lot more relevant to the story other than just another simple philosophers stone creation. A lot of characters are kept for longer periods. The story generally goes on a lot longer in terms of timeline for the world, not just episode amount. They show Hohenheim's background in a lot more detail. They explain more about Scar's Tattoo, and his brother's attempts at alchemy. They also explain how alchemy is actually used in a more plausible way than jsut shifts in plate tectonics. The depth of the story is far beyond the simple nature of the first series. Also, it is the one out of the two that really brings closure to the storyline.

The original anime, (Not brotherhood) is way better.

FMA brotherhood follows the manga. it is what the author realy wanted for FMA.
