But will they blend?

technically it's not "completely isolated" since there is heat and light coming in through the glass. Without that, the system will die. So it is in no way a self sustaining system.

There are not completely isolated systems anywhere. In theory, the only isolated system is the universe itself... therefore, your point is invalid,... i mean it's valid but so obvious that its statement is nothing but a waste of time.

Plants produce oxygen via photosynthesis and carbon dioxide while 'breathing'. They produce more oxygen than CO2 but there surely are some micro organisms in that bottle too and they need oxygen and produce CO2.

Don't ya hate when someone delete their comments, possibly out of shame, after they said something stupid, and you are left to wonder what they said forever?

I hate more when they delete comment you replied to and then you look like you are talking to the wall.

Saprobiotic organisms break dead plant matter, when these saprobiotes respire they produce carbon dioxide.
User avatar #156 to #151 - thedemonic (01/27/2013) [-]
the plant supplies oxygen for bacteria to live, to break down the leaves

The decaying leaves produce carbon dioxide.

It says in the post, mate.
Maybe read it before posting?

So it's a theoretically immortal life form that survives by repeatedly cloning and consuming itself? That's simultaneously horrific and awesome. I don't think anyone would guess that I'm talking about a plant from that description.

I had one of these for about 4 years when I was in elementary school. I don't know what happened to it because I had to move to Europe.
