Others are paying for your stupidity.
Don't act like you're living a 100% health conscious life and have never ****** up.
User avatar #89 to #86 - sabaton (01/27/2013) [-]
I'm not saying, that I live a 100% health conscious life.
Everybody (me included) getting ill or injured gets help from the system, thats what it's here for. It's a good thing, so paying is totally accaptable.

But IMO getting really obese is such a long term condition, that can be prevented and should. If you're not able to care for yourself, the government intervenes (and in extreme cases bans things).

tl;dr You don't wake up one morning being obese.
User avatar #118 to #83 - chiefrunnyjeans (01/27/2013) [-]
did you really just support banning food and drinks???
User avatar #36 - Crusader (01/27/2013) [-]
But it doesn't work like that.
Yes, there are SOME that think like that, like there are conservatives that think like that.
But there a lot of Liberals that think there should simply be restrictions.
Like the 42 ounce drinks out there, those are just unhealthy, there is no upside to a 42 ounce coke.
They don't want to ban all of them, they want people to know that there is enough sugar to bake a cake in those drinks.
#42 to #36 - anonymous (01/27/2013) [-]
why do you care what how much sugar i drink. I don't care who you marry or what job you work or what you smoke so what gives you the right to restrict what i drink.

I'm liberal, and I'm not like this. This image is of the irritating "extremist" mentality that both sides suffer from plenty.

Sugary drinks such as soda greatly contribute to the obesity epidemic in this country, the absolute ignorance as to what most consumers willingly put into their body is shocking. The fatter the population you have = more people with healthcare problems = a higher rate that people pay on their health insurance premiums, even those who are responsible and demonstrate a healthy lifestyle. You can argue against the effectiveness of the law, but its core objective does have some merit.

bring the red bitches
#61 to #49 - frink (01/27/2013) [-]
By that logic then we should have forced abortions to control the population. Less people means less money having to be spent.
#56 to #49 - anonymous (01/27/2013) [-]
The obesity epidemic is really US-specific and specific to the past 20 years (at the most).
There's no obesity epidemic in Europe nor in any other well-fed part of the world and there's no ban of sodas there.
Also, there was no ban of sodas nor was there a famine in the US prior to the US obesity epidemic.

Bring the Liberal pseudo-intellectuals.
#63 to #56 - anonymous (01/27/2013) [-]
I am utterly stumped by what point you are trying to communicate. Please refine and further polish what your trying to say if you have something intelligent to add. Americans DO have an abnormally high consumption of soft drinks, especially compared to that of Europe, even a quick google search verifies that. (www You need to login to view this link We consume near double the amount of the runner-up, Canada. Your out of your ******* mind if you think that is not indicative of a problem. And your right, there is not a large obesity epidemic in Europe. That's due to a myriad of different factors, one of them certainly being less soda consumption, as evident by the graph.

Americans have developed some of worst eating habits in the world thanks to the new era of high-calorie/low-nutrient foods. Your a moron if you cant see why there needs to be some restraint, because at this present time most Americans do not possess any.

In terms of my political views, I'm more in favour towards the left but all those god damn 'liberal' activists really ******* piss me. I can sometimes agree on their ideologies of a less restrictive government but a lot of them are pretentious douchebags who get easily get offended at harmless jokes.
#259 to #199 - anonymous (01/27/2013) [-]
...less restrictive government? Are we talking about the same liberals?

User avatar #216 - mexicanfood (01/27/2013) [-]
And where are they actively trying to ban sodas? Don't ******* mention New York because they are banning soda sizes, not the actual drink.
User avatar #195 - MistaJesus (01/27/2013) [-]
Liberal ≠ Ban soda
