Too bad it doesn't seem to workon any OS other than Win'95.

Thankfully EA released it as freeware and some dedicated modders solved the compatibility issue: redalert1.com/

Enjoy, comrade.

It's cool, I have it running on XP and Vista PCs with The First Decade installed. It's a little tricky, but enough fiddling and it works.

I could never get it to run, despite having both discs. But I'm glad others have figured it out.

See, you say "figured it out", but I had ******* no idea what I was doing. I can't remember how I did it, and I'm too scared to touch anything in case it stops working.

Well, if it ever stops working for whatever reason there's the download link for the full & patched version.

Speaking of strategy games, did you ever play Warzone 2100? Because that was a hella good game.

Nope, the only other birds eye view strategy games I've played were Age of Empires and Total Annihilation. Good times...

Warzone was a PS1 release back in '99. You can currently download it for free here:

You need to login to view this link

It had an edge over RA in my opinion because you designed (to a certain extent) your vehicles yourself. The sheer amount of in-game content and possibilities is fantastic.

Port = left = even (number of letters), also remembered by both having four letters.
starboard = right.
fore = forward, aft is behind

Ships are built by class. (i.e. New York Class, Alaska Class, South Dakota Class.) And within those classes are individual ships, and these ships usually differ somewhat in appearance. The USS Iowa is an Iowa class battleship, as are the USS New Jersey, USS Missouri, and USS Wisconsin. They all look slightly different. Be it color, armament, or crew size.

it's funny cause they aren't even shooting all the guns, if they did that at once it would turn the ship over... if i remember correctly that's the 340 mm caliber, rounds have the size of a grown man
