Reminds me of the cruisers from Red Alert.

Damn I had some good fun with that game. I feel so ******* old now, that ****** like 14 years old.

Too bad it doesn't seem to workon any OS other than Win'95.

Thankfully EA released it as freeware and some dedicated modders solved the compatibility issue: You need to login to view this link

Enjoy, comrade.

It's cool, I have it running on XP and Vista PCs with The First Decade installed. It's a little tricky, but enough fiddling and it works.
User avatar #76 to #75 - vladhellsing (01/27/2013) [-]
I could never get it to run, despite having both discs. But I'm glad others have figured it out.
User avatar #77 to #76 - TheHutchie (01/27/2013) [-]
See, you say "figured it out", but I had ******* no idea what I was doing. I can't remember how I did it, and I'm too scared to touch anything in case it stops working.
User avatar #78 to #77 - vladhellsing (01/27/2013) [-]
Well, if it ever stops working for whatever reason there's the download link for the full & patched version.

Speaking of strategy games, did you ever play Warzone 2100? Because that was a hella good game.
User avatar #89 to #80 - vladhellsing (01/27/2013) [-]
Nope, the only other birds eye view strategy games I've played were Age of Empires and Total Annihilation. Good times...
User avatar #92 to #89 - TheHutchie (01/27/2013) [-]
Warzone was a PS1 release back in '99. You can currently download it for free here:

It had an edge over RA in my opinion because you designed (to a certain extent) your vehicles yourself. The sheer amount of in-game content and possibilities is fantastic.

OHHH YOU MEAN PORT?

yfw you realize there is no "left" on a ship.
Port, starboard, fore and aft bro
User avatar #171 to #159 - robertelee (01/27/2013) [-]
yes i understand just didnt know which was which
User avatar #172 to #171 - lordofthesea (01/27/2013) [-]
Port = left = even (number of letters), also remembered by both having four letters.
starboard = right.
fore = forward, aft is behind

USS Iowa. I visited that ship after it was moved to the Port of Los Angeles.
User avatar #71 to #43 - TheHutchie (01/27/2013) [-]
I'm curious, how do you recognise that it's the Iowa?
User avatar #180 to #71 - RequieminMortis (01/27/2013) [-]
I've seen that picture numerous times on the Iowa's Wikipedia page, on Google search, and on the museum in the ship itself.
User avatar #83 to #71 - OperationValkyrie (01/27/2013) [-]
Ships are built by class. (i.e. New York Class, Alaska Class, South Dakota Class.) And within those classes are individual ships, and these ships usually differ somewhat in appearance. The USS Iowa is an Iowa class battleship, as are the USS New Jersey, USS Missouri, and USS Wisconsin. They all look slightly different. Be it color, armament, or crew size.

it's funny cause they aren't even shooting all the guns, if they did that at once it would turn the ship over... if i remember correctly that's the 340 mm caliber, rounds have the size of a grown man
