Anyone here ever heard of closed science? It's quite different than the science you would normally consider "proven".

Or do what George Carlin said... We are always trying to save this planet and nature but its a self-fixing cycle. We (and by that I mean the ones who act like they're are married to nature) should just leave it alone. The planet has been here for around 9 billion years and we have only been around for 30 million. Trust me, the planet has been through ALOT WORSE **** than us!

actually the planet is only around 4.6 billion years old

Isn't the point of science saying "We've poked the world with a stick a few times. Here's what we think"? I mean, our theories do a pretty damn good job of explaining things, but new evidence may arise. It's just all one long learning process.

At the same time, I agree with the whole climate change thing not because of any personal belief in the validity of the theory (which I'm not going to refute, either), but because of what it implies about how we should be acting. I mean, what's wrong with consuming and polluting less, looking for alternative fuel and energy sources that don't contribute to the whole CO2 emission thing? It makes everything more sustainable.

The great thing about belief is that saying you do or don't believe in something doesn't change **** . Gravity doesn't give a **** about this ********* in the comments.

There's still more evidence for evolution than there is God

Both cannot be proven, but it's just like hearing a rumor for an upcoming game. You could go to a reliable place like Joystiq, or you can go on a fan-blog.

That's the best analogy I've heard regarding the subject.

they can hear, and see what your visually thinking
this is the absolute complete truth!!!!!

The reason a lot of Asians have completely expressionless faces, segregate from everybody else-only associate with Asians and don’t associate with non Asians that much, are very untalkative, and are very unfriendly in general is to avoid accidentally revealing that they can read minds by accidentally showing a facial expression or dirty look when someone thinks, or visually pictures something in their mind they don’t like, find astonishing, or funny etc because those people might see that and really wonder what that was that just happened there and see the connection, and they might accidentally say something similar to what the person was just thinking and going to say. If they all associated with non Asians a lot more then there would be a lot more people around for them to accidentally show facial expressions when those people think things they don’t like etc, so they segregate and only associate with Asians so there won’t be anyone around for them to see that and have any accidents happen in the first place.

Try thinking, best yet visually picturing in your mind something absolutely wild as you possibly can when you are around Asians, and try looking for Asians who give people particular looks, especially dirty looks for what appears to be for completely no reason.

Science can never be absolutely true. Before the 16C most of the scientific community thought the earth lay at the centre of the universe. A scientific theory will always be a theory.

I'm surprised the room wasn't leveled by the sheer epicness exerted by these two legends.

Actually Science is only true in the current context we have. What's a 'fact' now could be completely ruled out once there is more context.

There is an infinite amount of hypotheses, our truth only comes out of those which we have currently explored and proven right or wrong. So technically you could say that no science is true, it's just what our best information points to right now.

Posting as anon in case I get moronic hate from the 'hurr durr I'm a science genius' crew. I swear that Scientists (or 'scientists') can be as closed minded as religious people, if not often much more so.
#50 - anonymous (01/26/2013) [-]
Everything about Science is called a 'theory' which means it isn't true, so if a lot of science is just theories then that must mean it doesn't prove anything . Oh wait a minute...I took the path of faith and don't need proof...maybe i should shut my mouth and not confuse believe and science and religious traditions since they can all co-exist together with an open mind.

Global Warming my ass. It was 7 degrees by me in new york on tuesday
Global chaos is more like it

The warming ocean is causing the jet stream to weaken which sends the North Atlantic Oscillation spinning into lower latitudes than normal, which means more freak cold snaps. Global chaos probably is a better description of what's happening to Earth's climate
