now look, just step back a moment and look at yourselves. Most atheists are only atheists because it's what other people on the internet do and they think it's cool and trendy to bash something they know nothing about. Calling religion nonsensical or even full out retarded, just proves your narrow minded view of life. And even with every one of your oh so witty posts and rants on how religion "ruins" society, do you really and i mean REALLY think one generation is going to undo the core fundamental belief of every human on this planet for the last 100,000 thousand or so years of our modern existence? Tell me, if religion was really so bad and idiotic than why is it found in EVERY SINGLE CULTURE FROM ALASKA TO AUSTRALIA? i mean really, and stop this "science wins" bullshit, most scientists are religious, most science comes FROM religion. For people who claim to be so smart, you obviously have no comprehension of anything beyond what you think.

Eisenstein, Galileo and even Mendel were all religious, but yeah you faggots and richard dawkins must know more than them right?

pretensions douche-bags

take a moment to step back and think and ask this one question, where did everything come from? what it just poped out of no where? god made himself? /thread

Only that modern science disregards completely, the possibility of there being anything other than "reality", the physical world etc.. It all comes down to funding and who backs what research.
Don't get me wrong, I believe all the major religions on earth today to be nonsensical (though not necessarily all of what was originally their religious text).

I guess I don't know jack, but I for one do not like that development in the western world. Extreme atheism, for lack of a better expression.
Look up what they call Chi energy, look up Noetic science. What scientists bluntly writes off today, may be what future generations find to be truth.

Classic internet. Tons of people with no degrees or experience or any sort of professional credibility, online criticizing, mocking, and slandering people who actually know what their talking about.

The thing is Science is backed up by proven points that are actually proven and make sense. However perhaps there could be one god but the Bible has been changed so much through the generations of humans that it is bullshit but its interesting bullshit

Prove it. According to Heisenberg's Law of Uncertainty, you will never be able to prove anything because you will never actually observe it.

"Global warming" is actually a misnomer - it is more correctly referred to as "climate change".

Specifically because the whole Earth isn't getting warmer - parts of it are getting far colder.

When I see them idiots mixing methaphysics and physics I got sick to my stomach. I mean, wtf? Do you discuss growth of plants with a dentist? Science can't prove existence of the Higher Being, neither can it disprove it. And get the fuck over it - you believe - go fuck yourselves, you don't believe - right this way, same fucking direction. It's down to individual senses if you feel and assume something beyond or don't. I mean, science is our key to technical progress, why everyone starts bitching about God the same fucking minute?

Meh. I believe in evolution but I feel like that was a weak statement. I could say the same applies to God but I'd get red-thumbed to oblivion.

Science has been completely wrong in the past (spontaneous generation, most of the darwinian model of macroevolution). It is simply a model to explain what is observed. If it was wrong in the past, it may very likely be wrong now. It is the height of arrogance to say that it is indisputable now.
#172 to #168 - anonymous (01/26/2013) [-]
the darwinian model of macroevolution has held fairly consistently to be correct since its inception...

Part of science is that it always accepts that it might be wrong and is ready to change as soon as evidence points to another conclusion. So you can say you don't believe in something science concludes because it may very well not be right. We think it is right, from what we know it looks right, but there is no way to be completely sure and thus you can choose to believe it is right or not.
People very often misuse the word "fact"
User avatar #59 - DisgruntledTomato (01/26/2013) [+] (5 replies)
Religion should be the motivation to go and make scientific discoveries, the two can work together, following faith and facts to get to the answer at the end. Without faith, there would be no progress, without science there would be no truth. The two are symbiotic, people need to stop following either route and use both to achieve great goals.
User avatar #62 to #59 - daentraya (01/26/2013) [-]
But religion is just fundamentally bullshit.. I cant get myself to respect anything that works by deluding people. The wonderful feeling you get when learning something new and understanding your world better and progress and everything should be motivation enough. We dont need religion anymore. In the past, sure. We were dumber. We needed that bullshit crutch, but now it's only in the way

There's still more evidence for evolution than there is God

Both cannot be proven, but it's just like hearing a rumor for an upcoming game. You could go to a reliable place like Joystiq, or you can go on a fan-blog.

That's the best analogy I've heard regarding the subject.
