i don't see why ppl argue about difficulty. i've played: eve, df, starcraft and dark souls. i have to say that each game is quite easy to learn if you read, and spend some time. although they are all hard to master.

I feel as though Starcraft should be depicted as way more difficult on the graph, or some of the other ones should be depicted way less difficult.

StarCraft is the kind of game that is very easy to learn, but it takes a lifetime to master.

I thought that at first too, but since this graph only views time spent playing vs required skill and there is no guarantee in starcraft that your skill will improve. Some people have over 5k games played and are still bronze, whereas in WoW as you level up the encounters (suposedly) become harder. So I think this might be rightish...

You good sir, don't know wow. Wow isn't a game about leveling up, wow is a game that begins at max level.

I've played Classic and TBC, that did increase difficulty as you progressed. I can't make a statement about the new expansions, but still there's bound to be some type of learning curve

Eh... I mean, slaying boars for a few hours didn't exactly take a lot of learning, but you do have a point.

And then there's Diablo 3, in which the line starts a quarter up and then has a negative slope.

Can someone teach me how to read those graphics? We haven't covered that in school yet. Thanks.

So i go to a college with quite a few interactive media and game design majors. All of my friends have no idea dwarf fortress even existed, ad they literally play nothing but video games all day. Seriously. My roommate is an interactive media and game desinger and he gets cranky when he doesn't play videogames at least every other day.

so there are two different required skill levels at the same amount of playing time elapsed in dwarf fortress or is that just an improper function?

You'll have to go backward in time to level out in playing skill required. 0.o
